The
Milwaukee Brewers are also showing interest in the services of pitcher Noah Syndergaard.
Here
are the five prospects I would target and not leave without two of them from
the prospect depleted Brewers
OF
– Corey Ray – No one in this chain scores run more
that Ray. Power/speed combo is just about the best in the minors. Having a ‘Ryley
Gilliam’ year in AAA, but, on paper, he remains one of the five top prospects
in the Brewers organization. Above average defender in CF. Fourth outfielder
floor.
2019
stats – AAA: 101-AB, .178, 3-HR, 40-K, only 3-SB
OF
– Tristan Lutz – had banner year with Class A
ball (13-HR). Not lightning speed but he holds his own both on the bases but
also in center. Accurate arms. Scouts project him as future right fielder.
2019
stats – A+ - 298-AB, .248, 9
-HR, 42-RBI
RHP
Zack Brown – The Southern League most
outstanding pitcher last year (AA: 9-1, 2.44). Having difficulty making the
jump to AAA ball this season. 92=95 fastball. ++ curve is his best pitch
.
2019
stats – AAA: 17-starts, 2-6, 6.01, 82-IP, 64/50 K/BB
LHP
Aaron Ashby – Nasty curve. Also slider like
action when throwed harder. A real + pitch. Now sits 91-94, touching 96. A left
that throws from the left side of the plate, making him a true headache to some
batters. When on, he can miss bats with the best of them.
2019
stats - A/A+ - 16 G, 15-ST, 5-6, 3.13, 92-IP, 106-K
C
Payton Henry – Above average raw power. Hits
home runs with the distance that would make Pete Alonso
smile. The bonus here is he has similar energy that Jeff McNeil shows every game, strong leadership
skills, and 44% throw out ratio. Has the make-up of becoming a ‘power-over-hit’
everyday catcher in the majors.
2019
stats – A+ - 292-AB, .250, 10-HR, 51-RBI, 98-K
For me Thor ought to cost more then this selection of prospects offers. Ray has been a disappointment. You are talking about what the white soxs got from the cubs for Jose Quintana as a comp. That a top 10 prospect and another top 75 prospect plus some additional low level fliers. Thor has 2+ years of control.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to trade him to the Padres and you start with Gore we can have a conversation.
And the team getting Thor also has to take Cano.
ReplyDeletemy post on Thor to San Diego coming up this weekend
ReplyDeleteThese guys would look like Seaver for Zachary etc. Just say no.
ReplyDeleteNow, if the Brewers still had Broxton...
Thor not starter I would consider trading. Rather cry baby whiner boy.
ReplyDeleteLook, the Mets need one more 30+ HR outfielder who can hit for average as well. e have "hopefuls" but "hopefuls" don't always win pennants, do they.
ReplyDeleteDreams are nice, but at night while sleeping maybe.
On the bullpen. Red Sox bullpen is almost as bad as this one actually. The best I can suggest here is to throw as many arms at it as possible, see who sticks. Someone has to. And do include "wild haired ideas" like Uceta for instance. Sometimes the "wild hair ideas" find players that are truly most grateful for the opportunity to have a chance to stick.
ReplyDeleteStranger things have happened.
And also, the Mets tried in 2011 onward to build the hardest fastball rotation east of the Mississipppi River. But it did not work really, if you're honest. Harvey's arm fell off, Wheeler, Noah, and Jake all spent time on the injury list, and Matz fell in the river, so to speak.
So why not add into the equation a purely control starter (or two) with not only great location but four pitches. Might work.
Thor to the Yankees for Sanchez should have been done during the Winter which really would have helped both teams.
