Asdrubal Cabrera batted in 50 runs in 300 at bats this year. We really could have used his bat, right about now. Hechavarria, guillorme, lagares and altherr (can't even spell 'em) are gonna burn us. Is there any chance of a minor league trade for a ready, viable bat: say, David Peterson for an older AAA slugger. Let's go mets!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNot getting Asdrubel was a puzzle indeed. Even more so with Cano gone, don't you know.
ReplyDeleteSo also not keeping Jason Vargas.
Met monkey's above post. You are right onyour comments regarding the current 2019 Mets bench. Bingo right actually. In the games against the better clubs this won't fly. I would consider Ruben from Syracuse, he's done well all season, and then like you suggest above, make a MiLB trade for someone maybe for CF insurance especially should Nimmo not make it back here.
ReplyDeleteJust not any of our better pitchers because it is a bit thin already.
Also, the more I watch MiLB Mets players batting mechanics the more things stand out. If you break a player's mechanics into these categories (stance, pitch selection, dug-in back foot, initial accelaration towards ball, body transference of weight, swing thru ball...you can more easily diagnose what may be hampering any player's batting mechanics results.
I wasn't a Cabrera fan. To me, there is having fun and then going a little bit overboard in the antics. He really had done all that he could do here I thought. It was time to let the kids play. He sort of got in McNeil's way I thought, at second. Cabrera was a third baseman his last two seasons. I wish him well.
