OPEN THREAD - Edgardo Alfonso

The Mets fired the Brooklyn Cyclones manager today.

He was told that the 'new people' wanted their own people.

Thoughts?

  1. I am a bit confused?

So the affiliate is a Mets' team, but the "new" people are not? I guess what I am asking is
don't the Mets have to be a part of that decision? Or, are the new folks 100% in charge and the
Mets are along for the ride?

I hope Fonzie is "rehired" as a manager further up the chain, then.

  2. Mike -

    No, he's gone.

I assume the 'new people' are the 'Boys From Boston' that we already hired to run the minors.

Mike, new people want their own people, regarding of results.

I was VP/Sales for a company that owned 336 radio stations. I had a one year contract that would renewed by both parties on Jan 1 of each year. The guy that hired me was fired. I made EVERY quarterly revenue budget and my reward was being shown the door.

New people have people that have been loyal to them in the past.

    Fonz didn't fit their plan.

I don't like it but I understand it.

If he is gone, I assume there will be many more as well.

(Also Phil Regan will be gone)

  4. Mack,

I was hoping things were different but we have seen this before. When Steve Phillips was fired, many others were fired as well including the scout who signed Jose Reyes and the Scout who signed David Wright. Then when Omar took over out went the Jim D holdovers. When Sandy came, Omar's guys said goodbye. Now it is Brodie's turn to clean house. "Same as it ever was".

  7. That is damage control because they knew fans would be upset over this.
