Draft News – Top HS LHH Outfielders in 2020 Draft

1.    Zac Veen                                    Spring Creek HS (FL)

PG - - Zac Veen is a 2020 OF/1B with a 6-4 190 lb. frame from Port Orange, FL who attends Spruce Creek. Tall and extremely projectable athletic build. Loose and fluid athlete, clean through the ball in the outfield with soft hands, shows good arm strength with a smooth arm stroke that projects more strength in the future. Left handed hitter, hits from a spread and open stance, has quick hands and a very loose swing, nice extension out front and a fluid path to the ball with lift out front, fast hips fire on time, has present power and lots of potential for more. Type of tools and body that a scout can dream on.

2.    Pete Crow-Armstrong              Harvard-Westlake (CA)

PG - Pete Crow-Armstrong is a 2020 OF/LHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Sherman Oaks, CA who attends Harvard-Westlake. Lean athletic build, unlikely to ever bulk up but plenty of room to get stronger. 6.51 runner, has easy gliding actions in the outfield, fields the ball cleanly with a quick release, makes very accurate throws due to advanced fundamentals and athleticism, plenty of raw arm strength, chance to be an elite level centerfielder. Left handed hitter, hits from a slightly open stance, loose and easy swing with low effort bat speed, middle to opposite field approach but has the ability to turn on balls and drive them with plus pop that he has shown in games. Very projectable in all areas and plays the game easy and is able to slow it down. Probably the most polished all around player in the 2020 class

3.    Robert Hassell                           Independence HS (TN)

PG - Robert Hassell III is a 2020 OF/LHP/1B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Franklin, TN who attends Independence. Lean high waisted athletic build, lots of physical projection and room to get stronger. 6.54 runner, moves well in the outfield with light feet and good overall athleticism and bounce, can use his lower half more throwing. Left handed hitter, wide slightly open stance, has fast hands he uncoils well to start his swing, uphill swing plane with good extension out front, projects power, ball jumps when squared, loose and easy swing. Also pitched, quick compact delivery with a clean and fast arm stroke, high 3/4's with some whip out front, some spinal tilt to get his arm through. Fastball topped out at 90 mph, shows a tight slider that bites hard and that he has feel for, flashed a change up. High level athlete with plenty of projection left, could end up as a two-way player if he goes to school.

4.    Jace Bohrofen                           Oklahoma City HS (OK)

PG - Jace Bohrofen is a 2020 OF with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Oklahoma City, OK who attends Westmoore. Tall athletic build with good present strength and plenty of physical projection remaining. 6.59 runner, very easy and athletic actions in the outfield defensively, glides to the ball with sound footwork and good balance, makes strong accurate throws with carry to them, has the potential to be an elite level defensive outfielder. Left handed hitter, compact swing with loose and easy extension out front, short shift into contact with a simple trigger, low effort tension free swing with present bat speed, creates some whip to the barrel and can show pull power although he is more of a gap to gap hitter at present.

5.    Slade Wilkes                             Columbia Academy (MS)

Slade Wilks is a 2020 OF/3B with a 6-2 215 lb. frame from Columbia, MS who attends Columbia Academy. Extra big and strong athletic build, pretty mature physically. Left handed hitter, hits from an open stance with a deep hand load, swings hard and swings with intent and hits the ball out front, has lift in his swing, can hit the ball as hard and loud as any player in the 2020 class, top of the scale power potential. 6.62 runner, very good straight ahead runner, left field or first base tools on defense. Bat is his tool and it's a good one, has always performed at PG events against upper level pitching.
