OPEN THREAD - If You Were Steve Cohen...

Would you do everything you can to sign outfielder Mookie Betts?

Or...

Would you do everything you can to sign outfielder George Springer?

  1. Betts.

Of course that doesnt change the fact the Springers wife is gorgeous.

  2. Both plus lock up Syndergaard, and Conforto now to long term deals.

  3. Mookie just turned 27 and Springer just turned 30. I would go for the younger player Mookie if I had to choose. But going after free agents is not always a sure thing. That's why I say go after both and get at least one.

  4. Let's remember we need a true CFér

  5. If is has to be only one you sign the younger Guy who happens to be the better player and probably been the 2nd best player in all of Baseball for the past 3 years...

Betts is the guys and a Gold glove RF. I personally would place him in CF anyway however if he is only a RF then a gold glove RF improves CF by default...

However if I am Cohen i am signing both and trading Conforto...
A cheap JD/Nimmo, Springer and Betts would be good enough outfield for me for years to come...

  6. Betts all day. He seems to be the healthier option and better player through the past few years.

Then wait until the next winter to sign either Lindor or Correa.

Trade Conforto this offseason if he doesn’t want to sign an extension now.

  7. Until Cohen takes the reins, all Betts are off.

  8. I'm betting on Cohen and with a spring in my step signing the younger guy, we can always use another Mookie.

  9. Id go after Mookie first since he's younger and has more prime years left in his career and been less injury prone than Springer. I like Springer a lot too but you gotta wonder a little bit about his being part of the "Trash Can Gang" 😂😂

  10. I would sign Betts. BTW, what is the lack of respect / appreciation for Conforto? 2019 257 average (not great) but 92rbi's and 33 hrs are great right?. Its more than what Mookie Betts had.

  12. Anyone named Mookie is good by me. That said, he is a year away from free agency and a lot can happen between now and then. If I’m Steven, I focus on making sure the ownership transition doesn’t fall through as job 1. As job 2, I determine if Brodie is the best man for the job. Specific players would be job 3.

  14. Betts, Noah, Conforto all long-term deals. We will also need to find a catcher, so TBD on that.
