Mack – Draft News – Victor Mederos, Sam Weatherly, Adam Seminaris, Spencer Torkelson

Fish Stripes  wrote about the top 3 MLB draft prospects that will come out of the Miami-Dade high schools. One was:

            RHP Victor Mederos

Victor Mederos is a 2020 prospect that has been on the radar of many professional teams. His size and power arm has intrigued many pro scouts and could see him as being one of the top power arms in baseball. On Perfect Game, Mederos is the 22nd-ranked prospect and the seventh ranked RHP in the country. MLB Pipeline also has Mederos as the 59th-ranked draft prospect. In his high school career, Mederos has a 3.15 ERA with a 1.43 WHIP and 111 strikeouts in 66 2⁄3 innings pitched.

Victor Mederos has a large, physical frame that still has room to fill in. Mederos stands at 6’3” and weighs 210 pounds out of Westminster Christian School. Mederos has a power fastball that sits 92-94 and tops out at 96 mph. He also throws a power slider that gets a lot of swing and miss. His slider usually sits 84-88 mph.

Clemson junior LHP, Sam Weatherly didn’t allow a hit (3-BB, 1-HBP) over seven innings in their Friday night win over in-state rival, South Carolina. Season stat line so far: 3-G, 3-ST, 2-0, 0.53, 17-IP, 4-H, 1-ER, 33-K, .077-b/ave.

LBSU (7-2) is off to its best start since 2008, and has shutout it’s last two ranked opponents thanks to another quality start from Adam Seminaris. The junior lefty pitched eight scoreless innings and struck out 10 Bulldogs while giving up a hit and two walks.

Seminaris threw 77 of his 102 pitches for strikes, and got out of the only jam of the night in the sixth inning with a fly out and a ground out. At one stretch, Seminaris retired 14 MSU batters in a row.

Seasonal stat line:  3-G, 2-ST, 1-0, 0.00, 4-H, 0-R, 15-IP, 22-K, 2-BB, .082 b/ave

  1. Only Torkelson will be gone before the Mets pick at #19.

Frankly, the others will be available on either the 2nd or 3rd round.
