Rivera EPSN.com: Bartolo Colon hopes to pitch one more big league season, and
if given the choice, it would be with the New York Mets. "That Mets
team was really something special," he said. "I've played with 10
teams, but with the Mets, the way all those players treated me, how that entire
franchise treated me, from the front office to the kitchen staff, it was
amazing. And Mets fans are the best. In the beginning, when they laughed at me
every time my helmet fell off, at first I felt uncomfortable. But when I saw
how much the fans enjoyed it, I asked for a bigger batting helmet so that it
would fall more because it was so much fun for them!" He added: "If
it was up to me, I would retire with the Mets. I would like my career to end in
New York."

Steven Matz
gives insight on Jeremy Hefner's message to Mets pitchers: ‘‘I think the
biggest thing that Hef has told me is keep the same intent,’ Matz said via the
Mets. ‘Everything should have a purpose while you're working out or throwing.
Keep up the game speed. Act as though this is what you would be doing if the season

Post: Mets need a lot from Marcus Stroman to justify surprise trade’s cost.
“Marcus
Stroman’s performance late last season left the Mets encouraged he
would be a good fit going forward. He had a 2.91 ERA over six starts after a
rocky first month following the trade and went 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA in his final
four starts of the season — all Mets wins. Overall, the Mets went 8-3 in
Stroman’s outings.”

Ozuna are all set to hit the open market. We can also throw in Joc

News: Angry ump: Garcia says he kept quiet to protect son-in-law. “Richie
Garcia was among baseball’s best-rated and most popular umpires, and like many
umps was known for the ones he missed: the Jeffrey Maier call in the playoffs,
the pitch to Tino Martinez in the World Series. He lost his job in the failed
labor strategy of mass resignations in 1999 and was welcomed back to Major
League Baseball two years later as a supervisor. Then, out of nowhere it
seemed, he was fired on the eve of the 2010 season. Garcia stayed quiet for a
decade, not wanting to cause any problems for son-in-law Vic Carapazza, among
the top umps of the current group.”

Conforto – Oregon State. “Conforto has an elite arm in left field,
and offensively, he led the Beavers last season with big-time power despite
hitting in a home ballpark that typically isn’t conducive to amazing power
numbers. Conforto has a stocky/compact frame and is expected to have a
productive spring as the nation’s No. 17 overall prospect.”

Regarding my 'blast' on Conforto, I was a fan of this guy going into the draft and had my fingers crossed when he was still on the board and our turn came up.
ReplyDeleteFor once, the Mets picked my pick.
Mack - your draft coverage is unparalleled. You hit on Conforto, Dom Smith and many others.
