1st-rd @MLBDraft pick Pete Crow-Armstrong signs with the @Mets for full slot value ($3,359,000). @VandyBoys commit can flat out play CF with plus speed and can really hit. More power to come.— Jonathan Mayo (@JonathanMayo) June 25, 2020

It was not the typical signing, but watch as @petecrowarm officially becomes a Met! #LGM pic.twitter.com/VRLvleN1Xi
This leaves the Mets roughly $2.6 million in their draft pool to sign second-rounder J.T. Ginn (nearly double his $1.4 million slot value, and more than the Dodgers offered him out of high school two years ago). https://t.co/v0BIL8VvbE— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) June 25, 2020
As Mack said the day he was drafted:
That being said, Crow-Armstrong is a ‘strong pick’ and the
best defensive centerfielder in the draft. He has a much better range, speed,
and arm in the outfield than Juan Lagares and has the potential of winning 5-10
Gold Gloves over his career.
He also has more speed on the bases than Brandon Nimmo.
I see him as Mets leadoff hitter for 5+ years beginning
2024.

ReplyDeleteCan we finally let go of Kelenic? That trade will always be unforgivable, but maybe we can move on?
