Good Morning. The Mets announce the initial 45 of their 60 man player pool. Aaron Altherr’s NC Dinos faced Chris Flexen and the Doosan Bears in Korea, and Yankee Fans want to compare Aaron Judge to Pete Alonso.

June 28, 1975: Casey Stengel made his final Shea Stadium appearance. Stengel returned for Old Timers Day. He arrived through Shea's center field gate on a Roman chariot pulled by two white horses. #LGM #MetsRewind pic.twitter.com/7X1X7TpwAi

Tom Seaver becomes the Mets'
all-time leader in victories, going the distance in the team's 7-3 win over
Pittsburgh at Shea Stadium. The 24 year-old right-hander surpasses the mark
set by lefty Al Jackson, an original Met who won 43 games for the new New York
franchise between 1962 and 1965.

The White Sox trade veteran
right-hander Tom Seaver to the Red Sox for Steve Lyons. 'Tom Terrific' will
finish his Hall of Fame career this season in Boston, but he will not pitch
in the World Series against the Mets, his first major league team that still
refers to him as 'The Franchise.'

With more than 700 police officers
on hand at the ballpark instead of the usual 60, John Rocker makes his
much-awaited return to Shea Stadium. Before the game, the Braves reliever,
who pitches a perfect eighth inning in front of 46,998 booing fans, had
apologized to Mets fans for his inappropriate comments about New Yorkers,
which appeared in the offseason in Sports Illustrated

Tebow not on the 45 man? Are they socially distancing from him and washing their hands of him? Probably not.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, he will make the Top 60 Charts with Cousin Brucie.
What Yoenis Cespedes will we get? We should soon find out.
Let's play ball.
Additional 10 players:
ReplyDeleteP - David Peterson, Chasen Schreve, Kevin Smith
C - Patrick Mazeika, Rene Rivera
IF - Matt Adams, Max Moroff, Eduardo Nunez
OF - Johneshwy Fargas, Jarrett Parker
My question is what ever happened to James Popoff? He pitched in 1992 for Pittsfield and Columbia and that was it. 19 K's in one game is pretty impressive.
ReplyDeleteSome of the teams are putting young players on their 69 man pool so that will have i some development time this year with instruction. With this being said I think the Mets should Alvarez, Mauricio, Allen, Wolf and Baty.
ReplyDeleteI agree Raw. One of our writers heard through the grapevine that Baty was going to be included. We will see what happens. They are also talking about expanding the Arizona Fall league though recent breakouts down south don't help.
ReplyDeleteGo read what Baseball America wrote about the Mets 60 player Pool. Mets are not thinking ahead to the future only focused on 2020 which is basically meaningless.
ReplyDeleteThanks Raw. I think it is correct. The Mets have no interest in the future. They will have new owners next year. The current owners' one goal is to try to get to the playoffs this year. I think the deals last year bear out the win now mentality. I would not be surprised if they even trade prospects away for someone to be a free agent this winter.
ReplyDeleteWe have no one on the current 40 who will need to be replaced next year, except possibly Ramos, and we have an option on him.
ReplyDeleteBy '22, our top high-A and AA players should be ML-ready, with lots of talent a year behind them. The excellent drafts of Brodie's regine should bear fruit by '23. The future looks good.
As for this year, why not add Bart to the taxi squad? Nothing to lose, and he' d be a great role model for the kids working out in Brooklyn.
Bill I made the same suggestion in a text message today. He is signed to play in the Mexican League but as I have been posting here, he would prefer MLB. Who knows - it could happen. If Melky - why not Bartolo?
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere yesterday that the Mex League may not operate this season, and if it does operate it may only use Mexican players.
ReplyDeleteIf so, Bart's contract there is void and he's a FA.
