Dominic Smith on the idea of taking a knee during the National Anthem in peaceful protest:
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) July 21, 2020
"For me, taking a knee just isn't enough. If you really want to show change, there's things you can do on your own time, in the offseason, to show how much you really want to change." pic.twitter.com/pKVoFFafC5

Wilson Ramos took BP on Tuesday and will be reassessed Wednesday, according to Luis Rojas. Confusing in the sense Ramos was absent for a personal matter, according to the team. Rojas wouldn't say if he expects Ramos ready for the season.

Yoenis Cespedes says he is as comfortable in LF as the DH. For the opener he has been told he will DH.

Yoenis Céspedes says Mets trainers have told him to limit his sprinting to about 80 percent. That's why he slowed down running to first on Saturday against the Yankees. He's trying to be cautious with his legs.

Jacob deGrom threw a bullpen today. It went well. He's expected to start Friday

This is cool...How Clayton Kershaw influenced Drew Smith's new cutter, which he's using often in his bid to make the Mets' bullpen:https://t.co/W8FKqNRb2G

Ladies and gentleman, for your viewing pleasure ... Pepe Mangual. Over two seasons with the @Mets, Mangual played in 49 games and hit .183 with one HR and 11 RBI. #LGM #MetsRewind pic.twitter.com/Qc3YhDg1aj

During a twin bill with the Reds
at Crosley Field, the Mets manage to have four runners thrown out trying to
score at home plate. The new National League expansion team from New York
loses both games, 11-4 and 4-3, en route to a record-setting 120 defeats this
season.

The Mets left fielder learns he is
a new dad when the Dodger Stadium scoreboard relays the message,
"Congratulations, Ron Swoboda. Your new son is born tomorrow
morning". Cecilia Swoboda gave birth to Chipper, the couple's first
child, at 12:02 am eastern standard time, making it the next day on the West
Coast.

Due to a series of maneuvers by
Mets' manager Davey Johnson and the late-game ejections of Darryl Strawberry,
Ray Knight, and Kevin Mitchell (the latter two as a result of a
bench-clearing brawl precipitated by Knight when he decks pinch-runner Eric
Davis at third base), the team runs out of position players. The shortage of
regulars leads to some interesting juggling by the New York skipper when
catcher Gary Carter plays third base and a pair of relievers shift between
the mound and a corner outfield position, with righty Roger McDowell playing
left field when Jesse Orosco pitches to lefties and the southpaw hurler
moving to right field when McDowell comes in from the outfield to face
right-handed batters, with Mookie Wilson moving from corner to corner as
needed.

breaks Steve Howe's club rookie record for saves established in 1980.

Wow - Tommy Milone the O's opening day starter? Jeesh!
ReplyDeleteDom Smith's dead center HR shows he needs to play.
Cespedes won't be the best DH in NL? I'll settle for 2nd best.
Drew Smith refined his pitches with Clayton Kershaw - he could be a plus factor this season.
Wilson Ramos is really a country singer named Willie Ray. I just found that out. He just got back from his personal leave after singing at the Grand Ol' Opry.
I remember the old days of 2017-18, when I seemed to be the only person around really high on Jeff McNeil. Everyone seemed to have missed the boat I was on, Today, John Harper wrote: It’s fun to think about McNeil making a run at .400 over 60 games, and he might be the best pure hitter in the big leagues...
ReplyDeleteHow about that, fellas? In my case, a clock is right twice a day.
It's 60 games... always go with the hot bat until it cools down.
ReplyDeletePlay Dom Smith this week.
