METS ACQUIRE OF BILLY HAMILTON
FLUSHING, N.Y., August 2, 2020 – The New York Mets today announced that the club has acquired outfielder Billy Hamilton from San Francisco in exchange for RHP Jordan Humphreys.
Hamilton, 29, was part of the Giants’ 60-man player pool, but has yet to appear in the majors this season. He is a seven-year major league veteran who ranks third among active players with 299 career stolen bases. His 81.3 percent stolen base success rate ranks fifth among active players with at least 200 stolen base attempts. The switch-hitter appeared in 119 games between Kansas City and Atlanta last season, going 22-for-28 in stolen base attempts. He spent the first six years of his major league career with Cincinnati.
Since 2013, Hamilton ranks second among all centerfielders with 72 defensive runs saved and ranks second among all active centerfielders with 55 outfield assists and a .995 fielding percentage.
Humphreys, 24, was designated for assignment by New York on July 29. He was the Mets’ 18th round pick in the 2015 First Year Player Draft.
Another trade that makes no sense. Anybody notice Rojas looks overmatched.
ReplyDeleteWhy trade someone with some promise for a 5th outfielder with no promise at all they easily could have signed before they traded another promising lefty relief prospect to the Astros for another 5th outfielder . Brodie is the dumbest GM in the league
ReplyDeleteCircling the drain, gentlemen
ReplyDeleteMets fans are very unhappy.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess we can call the Hamilton acquisition Fast and Furious.
