Through 43 games this season, the Mets’ starting ERA is 5.21. That is more than two runs higher than it was during their second-half surge last season, and it would be the highest full-season rotation ERA in club history, sneaking past the 5.18 mark of the ‘62 Mets.

Hall of Famer and beloved Phillies
announcer Richie Ashburn, an excellent contact hitter who once fouled off 14
pitches in one at-bat, passes away of an apparent heart attack in his New
York hotel room after broadcasting a Mets-Phillies game last night. 'Whitey'
collected the most hits by any major leaguer during the decade of the 1950's.

Lino Urdaneta's first major league
appearance results in an earned run average of infinity when the Tigers
rookie does not retire a batter, giving up five hits, one walk, and six
earned runs. Fortunately for the right-hander, the Mets will give him the
opportunity to appear in two games in 2007, in which he allows one run in one
inning of work, to bring down his ERA to a much more respectable 63.00.

Yanks, losers of 15 of 20, were bailed out in those 5 games by the loser Mets when the Mets let them win 3 straight.
ReplyDeleteThe correct point to make is not that the Mets' starters' ERA is 5.21. It is: what are the Mets' starters' ERAs this year other than Jake and starter Lugo? Has to be 7.00 or higher. What is this, Las Vegas?
Why is Gsellman still here? May I suggest a short haircut? It worked for Jake?
You can't build a team on hitting and ignore pitching depth. The hitting will slump and pitchers always get hurt.
