Mack - Weekly Draft Notes

JJ Cooper - @jjcoop36

MLB statement on expiration of the Professional Baseball Agreement with MiLB:

"Although the PBA has expired, we intend to work with Minor League owners to grow the game by building a new model that will serve fans, players and communities through the United States and Canada."

JJ Cooper -

This is a statement, so I do not want to read too much into it, but I will note it says "Minor League owners" here. "Minor League owners" is different in my perception from Minor League Baseball (the entity), which has run negotiations with MLB on the PBA.

Is the primary purpose of the Appalachian League to replace previous minor league teams with summer collegiate ones while providing instruction for young collegiate players?

So unless you have an Appalachian League team in your backyard, what is the upside to this? I'm seriously curious what the purpose and benefit of this is to the players or is this just MLB and TUSA stepping in on a business model they previously didn't have as much of a part in?

Also, what is the point of having a ridiculous amount of quotes/testimonials from politicians in the press release? Is that supposed to make it seem more legitimate?

https://www.prospectslive.com/mlb-draft/2020/9/26/2021-mlb-mock - came out with an updated mock and they had the Mets picking at 1.10:

10. New York Mets - Adrian Del Castillo, C   Miami

It’s difficult to know whom will be I charge of the Mets draft in 2021, and I’m not one to speculate. However, the pick makes sense here as Del Castillo is a high level college hitter with a chance to stick behind the plate long term. Regardless, the introduction the designated hitter in the National League may be right around the corner, a huge boost Del Castillo’s who’s value is planted within his bat. More walks than strikeouts both years at Miami, it might be the most complete college bat in the class.

Kendall Rogers - @KendallRogers
