David offered this: “Consider that the Mets had $24 million tied up into their second (or third) best second baseman and that they still have glaring holes in center field, catcher, their starting rotation and their bullpen…The addition by subtraction here allows the Mets to keep Jeff McNeil, Michael Conforto and Brandon Nimmo in the starting lineup while re-allocating those funds to the needs I just mentioned.”

  1. It would be great if Bartolo comes back. He was supposed to pitch in the Mexican laegue last summer but the league was cancelled due to COVID. Maybe he will show up in the Dominican this Winter or at Syracuse this Spring.

  2. I don't mind a Colon comeback try, but he no longer can be presumed to be a below 5.00 ERA caliber pitcher, based on his (now not-so-recent) recent years. I could see him catching on with a bad team that needs pitching, maybe.

If you asked me if I'd want Chris Flexen or Bartolo pitching for the Mets, I'd pick Flexen, based on his 2020 year in Korea. And the new and improved Flexen may still not be quality enough for the Mets in 2021. If we were coming into Wilpon 2020, and Flexen did what he did, they'd probably want to sign him back if the price was right.

  3. Tom - Hope that Bartolo or Flexen could come back next year but in reality probably a stretch and more of a wish that a sound plan.
