"The fans are knowledgeable and know what they are talking about"
— Ernest Dove (@ernestdove) November 10, 2020
That's an amazing statement. Metstwitter is alot of things. God bless you Steve Cohen.

Cohen said "we want to be thoughtful about it"
“I grew up on Long Island. I don’t have a big ego. I’m doin it for them. I’m a low key guy. I relate to them. I know how they feel,” Cohen on Mets fans. So far he’s hitting a home run. The Long Island accent is a bonus. (You can take the boy outta Great Neck, but ...)

For those stressing online about it, Sandy right now implying there could be 2 hires coming for roles such as GM and Prez of baseball ops and that Sandy will have input but NOT full authority to make all decisions. Cohen is building a TEAM folks.
— Ernest Dove (@ernestdove) November 10, 2020
The ongoing theme of this Mets press conference is that the organization is behind other franchises with technology. They can now be ready to succeed without the prior handicaps.
— Ernest Dove (@ernestdove) November 10, 2020
Maybe I’m reading too much into this and perhaps it’s the combination of increased job responsibilities and all of the days’ positive vibes, but Sandy sounds less circumspect and encumbered and so much more free wheeling and downright happier than ever. This is going to be fun.

Sandy Alderson says the perception of the Mets as a place to establish a career has transformed.
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) November 10, 2020
"Suddenly, overnight, I think people are interested in working for the Mets who were perhaps not before. I think players are interested in playing for the Mets."

Only caught part of it. Extremely hopeful. We should be thrilled.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe that I could be more excited about our team but I am as Steve said all the right things and still amazed by his involvement and compared to Wilpon/Katz who always seemed to be in hiding although I guess for good reason.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that 90 min conference could have gone any better. They said all the right things I or any fan could hope to hear. Nice to know they are not going to gut the farm system or punt the year. I feel like I spend every offseason mostly afraid of what young exciting talent the Mets are going to trade away. No more SWR or Kelenic trades.
