Scouting Report - C - Carter Jensen

Carter Jensen

C 6-1 215 Park Hill HS (MO)

BPJ  -

SUMMARY: Carter Jensen is a bat-first catcher that also possesses significant defensive skills. If he sticks at catcher in pro ball, he will have two carrying tools (Hit/Power). Those tools make him easy to project as a future middle-of-the-order bat. Above-average hitting ability and potential plus left-handed power from the catcher position gives Jensen a skill set to be a high pick in the MLB draft if a team can sign him away from his commitment to LSU.

Big, strong left-handed batters who's got a knack for putting barrel on ball. Has shown power to all fields, including hitting a big opposite field HR at PG National. Some of the best pop times behind the plate. One of the most well-rounded backstops in the 2021 class.

Jensen is a strong and athletic 6-foot-1, 215-pound, left-handed hitting catching prospect in Missouri’s 2021 class. Committed to Louisiana State University. At the event, he ran a 7.28 60 and a 4.77 home-to-first. At plate, Jensen posted an event best exit velocity of 99 mph, reverse toe tap into load, loose and quick hands, flat bat path, aggressive and repeatable swing with some lift, ball jumps off barrel, showed plus pop to all fields during batting practice. Behind the plate, Jensen has soft hands, clean and quick arm action, moves well side-to-side, clean arm action with positional velo of 77 mph, mostly accurate throws with carry.

PG -

Carter Jensen is a 2021 C/1B/3B with a 6-1 210 lb. frame from Kansas City, MO who attends Park Hill. Solid athletic build, pretty mature physically. 6.94 runner in the sixty, has very athletic actions behind the plate defensively, stays compact in all his actions, big arm strength with carry and accuracy, receiving and throwing skills really stood out in game action. Left handed hitter, hits from a side base with a short lower half shift into contact, uses his strength well to develop bat speed with easy extension and lift through the ball, ball comes off the barrel hard with jump. Impressive young catcher with tools and skills on both sides of the ball to go along with athleticism.

 Prospect Worldwide -

Carter Jensen – C/1B/3B/OF: Middle of the order Left-handed bat with a (50) Hit Tool and Power that shows up to all fields, athleticism, ability to play multiple positions from C/1B/3B/Corner OF. Shows average pop times behind the plate and a (55) Above-Average Arm. I see Jensen’s draft profile and value being a slightly lesser version of Tyler Soderstrom. Has some C ability, but the bat, athleticism, and defense as a whole probably profile best at 3B or a Corner OF spot. But he may have a slight better chance then Soderstrom did to stick behind the plate, I wont count it out yet. There is a ton to like here. And he won’t even be 18 on Draft Day.
