I’ll always be grateful to the Mets for the opportunity to play for my hometown team. Thank you to Mets fans for all your support throughout my time in NY. And thanks to all my teammates and coaches — I wish you all nothing but the best of luck moving forward!

Metstradamus:
The Other One That Escaped To The North. “Well this wasn’t so much of an
escape as it was a relocation…But from 2017-20, Matz not
only couldn’t take the next step, but regressed big time, going 18-33 with and
ERA of 4.83 and a WHIP of 1.363. He gave
up more home runs per nine innings and walked more per nine and that’s never a
great forumla.”
Faith
and Fear in Flushing: Steven couldn’t have started stronger, just as he
couldn’t have ended worse. In between, he settled in as a familiar if
ultimately frustrating figure.

Mets: Farewell Steven.

Bauer and other potential moves.

If Aaron Loup finalizes his agreement with Mets it would be for approximately $3 million, taking the Mets to about $185 MM. Luxury tax still a calculation but as we’ve said, agents are noticing a bit more openness to exceeding than for most of offseason.

Sergio Ferrer? Looked him up...5'7" 145. His hitting matched his size: diminutive. Closer to Eddie Gaedel than Pete Alonso.
ReplyDeleteIf LAD really wants Bauer, does anyone really think the Mets will win out on him, whether you think Bauer would be good or bad to bring in?
Will Matz win 20? One of the most disappointing Mets for me in a long time.
Almost February - things oughta be finalizing soon.
Baseball expects to decide on NL DH by August 1. Not saying which year or decade.
Tom,
ReplyDeleteSergio Ferrrer is on a very short list of Yankees that were traded to the Mets. The Mets traded 3B Roy Staiger to the Yankees for Sergio.
Anthony Recker in the SNYTv clip says it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteRecker was persuasive. We'll see where Bauer lands. I wonder if he'd take 1 year, $40 million, to prove to everyone last year was no fluke.
ReplyDeleteIf he won't agree to that, I will take out my mitt and start getting prepped. I am willing to sign for less than that.
:-) At this point in my life with my shoulder woes, I'm not sure I could throw that pill even 60'. But, yea, I'll take a few dollars less than $40M.
