  1. Respectfully, I don't understand the point of this, since all of this content is already available on SportsSpyder.

Do you really want people to come to Mack's Mets only to click to go to somewhere else? Is the idea to make this place some kind of hub? And do you find, in your analytics, that's what people do? In the two blogs I've run (over the years), I find that very few people actually click on links.

But that's me and not what you guys do here. Mack has always believed in a lot of content, even when it's not generated by the writers here. Personally, I'd rather see fewer articles and more sustained comments, discussions.

I appreciate the work put into this, but I don't see the added value.

Sorry, I don't mean to be offensive. Just my two cents.

  2. Thanks Jimmy I valued your input good or bad it is always helpful.

I did this to deliver the latest news to our readers as it happens. It is an embedded feed of the top stories as updated by SportSpyder.

We have similar information on the side bar on our webpage but mobil readers don't get to see those.

The feed is different than our breaklinks as those are Mets Centric and NL East Centric with some extras thrown in.

Both are works in progress. I plan on making adjustments down the road.

If they don't work out or people don't like - I will stop.

What sort of information do you want to see? As always your thoughts and opinions are welcome.

  3. Interesting comments.

John, when you first introduced the lunch time links, I guess I asked myself 'Why'? Much seemed a bit redundant, but then I thought a little bit more and decided it was a nice summarization to other potential articles that I may be interested in and missed.

I kind of look at this like going to church. I don't always agree with everything they preach, but I take what I can use and leave the rest alone. In this case, it is there, and I personally will only look at a small fraction of what is posted, but others will benefit from things they are interested in.

My biggest issue these days is my own self-discipline for cutting off the reams and reams of info at my fingertips. I am both a Mets and a general news/political junkie and spend WWAAAAAYYYYYY too much time on the computer on a daily basis. But, I will not ask for less - I'll just need to train myself to gain more self-control.

A huge thanks to what you do. I am in awe of the thoroughness you provide for all the rest of us fans.

And, to follow-up another of Jimmy's comments, I too like the sustained comments and discussions of specific topics. I enjoy the debate with people of differing opinions. There are times when I feel that just because a new article popped up, the current discussion then becomes obsolete and is dropped prematurely.

Lastly, if there were anything different or new, it would be some facility to be able to scan or search for your (or others) old comments. Some threads deviate from the actual topic and at times I want to go back to look at a previous comment I have posted and have no idea what article it was attached to. I copy and paste some of them into a separate document as I post them, but that is hard to do all the time. With the volume of articles (not a bad thing), they tend to roll through there pretty quickly.

    Thanks again,

  4. Scanning for past comments. That is a good one let me play with that. On the PC version of this page there is a search function. You can also have comments emailed to you but you have to click the box on each post - if I find another way I will let yiu know.

1969 the next thing I am working on is in response to a comment you made a while ago on how to find the latest info on players. Like Mack has done with the 2021 Draft prospects, we hope to do with the 2021 Mets minor leaguers to provide a data base for all Met minor league players.

I do these enhancements based on what I want to see on a site and what readers like you, Jimmy, and others request. Luckily so far Mack has supported these ideas.

    Thanks again for reading.

  5. Fyi - thinking of a late night links as well that will be slightly different from all the others. --- No really I am. Once the season starts it will have all the latest scores. If you think this is crazy ok to say so.
