Jack Findlay

Roxbury HS, Succasunna, N.J. LHP

Ht: 6-3 | Wt: 200 | B-T: L-L

Commit/Drafted: Notre Dame

Age At Draft: 18.9

A pitchability lefthander, Findlay is a projection arm at the moment, but one who teams are intrigued by. With a 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame, Findlay has a solid frame with further physical projection remaining. His fastball is mostly in the 89-91 mph range now but could easily jump in the future and he has also shown polished secondary offerings that could allow him to profile well as a starter, when combined with his above-average strike throwing ability. Findlay is committed to Notre Dame.

A prep lef-thander from New Jersey, Findlay was coming off a strong fall with some bonkers strikeout numbers and he showed quality command with the stuff to back it up. He’s a broad-shouldered 6-foot-3 southpaw who showed feel for real command of his 87-90 mph fastball with three pitches he can throw for strikes highlighted by his hammer curveball. He’s a pick to click for some potential helium next spring with a velocity jump.

Notre Dame recruit. 6-foot-2, 190-pound projectable frame. On the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle and a short arm action while showing quick arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses some effort. Has athletic balance point and uphill shoulders. Lands square with an athletic finish. Slider (80-82 mph). Produced a fastball that came in at 88-90 mph with a max of 90 mph; had consistent control and running action. His 1/7 curveball (76-79) showed tight action. Shows running action and control low in the zone on his changeup (82-85).

Jack Findlay is a 2021 LHP/OF with a 6-1 150 lb. frame from Ledgewood, NJ who attends Roxbury HS. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a longer, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.82 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, shows an easy delivery on the mound and controls long levers well, lands slightly cut off with front side but gets on top of ball well. Shows an easy arm action through the back with a medium arm stroke working to a three-quarters release point, maintained well on curveball too. Fastball topped out at 75 mph with slight cut action, filled the zone and showed ability to work both sides of the plate. Nice feel for curveball, 1-7 shape with later depth through the zone and threw for strikes as well. Plays the ball out front in the outfield and and shows sound actions, works through the ball and shows on line with out of hand with arm strength that will continue to develop with physical strength. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and utilizes a high leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Loads hands back deep at start of swing, shows quickness to hands once underway. Contact approach and keeps hands in throughout swing, works the opposite field with contact.

Mack's spin -

Findlay has a lot of projection in this game. Everybody loves a lefty, even one that only tops off at 90.

I'm sure someone will draft him on Day 2, but I project Findley going to his projected school, Notre Dame.
