Timothy Williams
LHP 5-11 140 Page County HS (VA)
11-7-2020 - PG -
Timothy Williams (2021 Shenandoah, VA) ran his fastball up to 93 mph from the left side at the WWBA. This was his first outing of the year at a Perfect Game event and he did not disappoint. He has two different breaking balls with a curveball and slider that he seems confident throwing. If he can hold the firm stuff in longer outing’s he will make a splash this spring.

Timothy Williams is a 2021 LHP/1B with a 5-11 141 lb. frame from Shenandoah, VA who attends Page County HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lena, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary lefthanded pitcher, starts with a side step moving into a full hands over head delivery, gets tall on back side and shows slight hip turn at top. Lands slightly closed with strike foot and works across front side. Full arm action working to a high three-quarters release point, will occasionally drop to low three-quarters and provide a different look. Creates extension out front and able to generate short life to fastball which topped out at 79 mph. Locates away from righthanded hitters well; mixed curveball and showed it consistently in this look with 2-8 shape and nice depth up to 67 mph. Mixed well and controlled the running game nicely. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a low back elbow at the plate, strides wider into contact. Upper body dominant swing, utilizes a contact approach and gets the barrel to the ball, line drive swing plane through the zone and looks to pull the ball out front.

Williams has an athletic frame that still has a ton of projection to it. He varies his mechanics and uses multiple arm slots, as you can see in the video, each pitch has different mechanics. He is incredibly athletic and maintains his command and feel while changing his mechanics from one pitch to the next. The arm action is short and very quick, he throws with normal effort. His fastball was 83-84 early in the outing, and he held that velocity regardless of whether he lifted his leg or used a slide step. Pitch had some late life and he commanded to both sides of the plate. In the fifth inning, he was sitting 80-81 but could still grab an 84 when he wanted it. Curveball had good armspeed and was 70-73 with 2/8 break that was late. He knows how to pitch.

Frankly, I need to see/read more about this potentially serious starter.
