Anthony DiComo Mets.com: “by the later innings of that game, an entirely different unit had taken the field. At shortstop was top-ranked prospect Ronny Mauricio. At third base was third-ranked prospect Brett BatyFifth-ranked prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong was in center, seventh-ranked Khalil Lee was in right, and eighth-ranked Mark Vientos was at first.”

Mets to play the Marlins this afternoon at 1:10.  It will be shown on WPIX 11 in NYC.  Marcus Stroman to make the start.

Joel Sherman NY Post: Mets’ George Springer what-if filled with intrigue: “I love Lindor’s game and persona. Having him and Carlos Carrasco makes the Mets better. But was there another way to go? Was Springer the better short- and long-term play overall considering what else could have been done with the personnel/money? I cannot shake how much I like Andres Gimenez as a player. He is not Lindor. But I would bet on his skills and precocious savvy to be an above-average shortstop with cost-friendliness for six years.”

Ken Davidoff NY Post: Secret behind Jacob deGrom defying the velocity odds. “'If I knew how to keep increasing it, I think I would keep trying to increase it even more,” a smiling deGrom said on Saturday after his outing...I honestly think that it’s being more comfortable with my delivery. … For me, it was really learning my delivery and being able to repeat that. For me, it’s trying to stay as smooth as I can on the mound.'”

  1. Winning begets winning. Let's keep on winning. I don't care if it is early March.

Watched the Crow fly around the base paths. He is quick indeed. Nice to see SPEED.

Dom is just reminding folks that his lethal bat is not a mirage.

  2. Tom, I agree - that has always been one of my things about spring. Winning matters only that it is winning and the culture starts as early as possible.

PCA's triple was off a lefty - good swing on that one. And yes, I LOVE the speed. I am really rooting for this guy to come up and be the Mets centerfielder of the future.

  3. Morning Bill and Tom. PCA can run and field. He just needs at-bats in the minors against professional pitchers. If all goes right, maybe we can see him in Binghamton next year.

  4. PCA will probably open up in A-St. Lucie, but I may be wrong and they push the kid to A+ Brooklyn.

Also... don't be surprised if he isn't added in Sept. for the extra inning guy at second.

  5. That would be something Mack. That would mean the Mets would not care about starting his arbitration clock early. Also since rosters are no longer expanded in September somebody would need to be cut to put PCA on the roster.

  6. That would be a very interesting development indeed.
