Tom Brennan - WHO DOESN'T LOVE A GOOD COOKIE?

Man, that trade with Cleveland.

We got FRANCISCO LINDORWHATTTTT????

Yeah, but it that wasn't enough, we got a Cookie, too.

Carlos (Cookie) Carrasco
, a 6'4, 225 right handed pitching BEAST.

Carrasco, as most of us know, had a serious health issue in 2019.

So let's exclude that year as an anomaly in considering Carrasco.

He had a 2.91 ERA last year - pretty darned great, if you ask me.

And in 2014 through 2020, leaving out 2019, he threw 924 innings, fanned 1,005 batters, had a 3.24 ERA in a DH league, and went 73-47.

Clearly a # 2 starter resume for this team, and what would be a # 1 starter resume for half the teams in baseball.

Since I was a little kid I always loved a great cookie.  I still do.

And I think we're gonna love Cookie Carrasco this year.

Especially in October, a month where I REALLY. enjoy a great cookie.  I want to wolf down a LOT of cookies from April through October, actually.

  1. How's that for a short article?

I am hoping to put out good cookie vibes about his elbow into the Metsoshphere.

He said he will be ready - I'm a believer.

And certainly hope his arm does not turn into overcooked elbow macaroni.

  2. Short and sweet Tom. Cookie doesn't seem concerned. Hope that is a good sign. He could be a difference maker in the division. Still, hard to imagine a starting staff that goes through a year with no problems so the depth will help. Who knows, maybe Oswalt will get a turn. If strikes out 5 of every 6 he faces over the next two months, he surely will.

  4. Also aside bar here can we not hear anymore about the possibility of trading Dom. Everyone involved please stop the insanity and move on.

  5. Gary, trading Dom now is KOOKY. I projected his numbers for 2020 over 150 games as I recall he would have had 63 doubles, 30 HRs and 147 RBIs. Why don't people want to see how 2021 plays out for Dom? Does he get 80% of the way there? That would be 50 doubles, 24 HRs, 118 RBIs. People need to stop being short-sighted.

Carrasco seems confident and has experienced this in prior pre-seasons, so why worry? I just wish, given his history, he had gotten to camp earlier and started this achy elbow cycle sooner.

  6. John, I can't get excited over one Oswalt outing. He needs to make a compelling case. With so many pitchers, that will be in AAA.

  7. Mack, I lover short bread. Hopefully, Cookie won't have short outings.
