National Pastime.com: The Astros defeat the Mets in 24 innings, 1-0, making it the longest scoreless game in major league history. The six-hour and six-minute contest, in which each team had 79 at-bats and 11 hits, ends when Bob Aspromonte's grounder goes through the legs of shortstop Al Weis, scoring Norm Miller from third base with one out.

Before Les Rohr allowed the winning run to score, eight Mets pitchers threw 23 shutout innings led by Tom Seaver who started and went 10 innings.  Ron Swoboda and Tommie Agee each went 0 for 10.

  1. That 1-0 24 inning game killed Tommie Agee in his painful 1968. 0-10, 4 Ks. 5 of their starters combined to hit 3 for 47. They could have used a man on 2nd base to start the inning.
