Mack's Top Draft Prospects - #11 - SS - Brady House

Brady House

Mack's spin -

I have House coming off the board at 1.11 because he is the last of the top shortstops in this draft and if you don't pick him now you are going to be shite out of luck for middle field excellence.

SS    6-3        215      Winder-Barrow HS (GA)

5. Orioles: Brady House, SS, Winder-Barrow HS (Winder, Ga.)

House has bounced back after struggling on the showcase circuit last summer and offers some of the best power in the Draft and possibly enough athleticism to stay at shortstop.

5. Baltimore Orioles: Brady House, SS, Winder-Barrow (Ga.) HS

House hits for average and power from the right side of the plate. Defensively, he plays shortstop and handles the position well, possessing a strong arm and smooth actions in the field. Some teams are intrigued by his potential on the mound, but House profiles best as a position player.

5) Orioles: Brady House, SS, Winder-Barrow HS (Ga.)

House had entered last summer as the front-runner top pick, had an up-and-down showing, but righted the ship this spring, with his name starting to pop up at least as high as right above this pick.

5) Orioles (Callis): Brady House, SS, Winder-Barrow HS (Winder, Ga.) -- He has big-time power and arm strength and could be a more athletic/higher contact version of Joey Gallo.

7. Kansas City Royals: Brady House, 3B, Winder-Barrow HS (GA)

It’s hard not to like Brady House. There are some Nolan Arenado/Josh Donaldson comparisons that scream potential superstar in the making. He’s a fringy runner but a solid glove at the hot corner. If he can calm down his strikeouts and show a little more consistency he might return to top five status as well.

13. 3B Brady House | School: Winder-Barrow HS, GA | Commit: Tennessee | B / T: R / R | Ht: 6’3 | Weight: 217lbs | Age: 18

House long has been viewed as a Top talent in the class, and for good reason. Young for the class just turning 18 during the draft month, the Right-Handed Plus Power from House is legitimate and some of the best in the class. Expect his defensive home to be at 3B long-term, shifting off SS he currently plays. If the Hit Tool can show the consistency it once did, House will solidify himself as one of the Top Overall Prep talents in the class. He has a Plus arm that profiles well at 3B and has a chance to be an Above-Average Defender there at his best. There is some 2-way potential here, but the future with Brady is in the middle of a lineup driving in runs. Similar to Troy Glaus.

#13. Brady House, SS

Committed to the University of Tennessee as an 18-year-old prep star, House entered this past summer as the top high school prospect in the upcoming draft. He has an unusual build for a shortstop (6-3, 215 pounds), but his size helps create some exciting offensive tools as scouts see him developing 70-grade power (as a shortstop!). On defense, the potential is just as high, where House reportedly hit 96 MPH on the mound, suggesting he definitely has plenty of arm strength to hold down the shortstop position, or even man the hot corner where evaluators say his hands, reaction and body control are all above-average as well. I haven’t seen House play, but of the hitters listed here, he’s the guy that appears to possess the highest ceiling.

1. Brady House, SS, Winder-Barrow HS, Winder, Ga.

House has pro size (6'3", 210 pounds), and he's performed against the best pitchers on the showcase circuit. He has plus-plus power potential and an advanced approach at the plate.

Brady House – The most famous name in the high school class, House is built like a Greek god and he boasts plus-plus power potential. He’s aggressive at the plate and may struggle to be an average hitter, and he’s an impressive athlete who probably can’t stick at shortstop but could be a plus at third base.

Conclusion

At the time of writing, there is a high probability that Brady House is a top ten overall pick in the MLB draft. Things could change between now and July, but right now, House is a top ten guy. For Fantasy Baseball purposes, House could be a legit source of power and can hit 30 plus home runs in the MLB. In FYPD drafts for this upcoming draft class, House is likely to be a hot commodity. He is off to a hot start to this high school, and if House continues this strong start, he could put himself in the conversation as one of the best prep players in the country.

Two more homers for Winder-Barrow HS shortstop Brady House today. The bat speed and physicality at the plate are undeniable. Big spring ahead.

6-3  210  R/R SS Winder, GA Tennessee Winder-Barrow

Physically impressive with smooth actions & a good arm across; strong RH swing & can hit for average & power. Up to 96 mph on the bump, too. Exceptional at the PGHS Showdown showing power, speed and a refined defensive approach.

15. Brady House, SS/3B, Winder-Barrow HS (GA)

House will celebrate his 18th birthday just before the draft, yet he's already listed at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, putting him in Corey Seager's orbit (6-foot-4, 215 pounds). House looks like a third baseman, in other words, but his drafting team might give him a chance to stick at the six, the way the Dodgers have with Seager. Even if he moves to the hot corner, his big arm and bat should be assets. House has touched 96 mph from the mound before, and he has a fast barrel capable of loud contact. Some adjustments to his lower half could help him tap into his ample raw power, clearing a path for him to become a middle-of-the-order thumper. House has a commitment to Tennessee.

Areas To Improve: Cut down on swing and miss, dominate Georgia pitching, show impact

House seems to be the latest victim of prospect fatigue, but it’s true that he didn’t dominate offensively like most evaluators wanted him to last summer. Because of that, he’ll need to cut down some of the swing and miss that was in his game and show impact against Georgia pitching this spring. While he’s athletic for his size and was a better defensive shortstop than many scouts expected, he’s still a risk to move to the hot corner at the next level and will need to hit and hit with power to profile there out of high school.

Colorado Rockies

Brady House

SS/3B, Winder-Barrow (HS)

The Rockies swooped in at nine overall in 2020 and scooped arguably the most talented player in the prep class. Moving up one slot in 2021, they land arguably the most physically talented player in the prep class in House. While he lacks Veen's track record, House possesses elite physical and athletic attributes that make him a high upside pick. His ability to stick at shortstop coupled with his raw power provide a nice chassis to dream on. Questions surrounding his feel to hit and some struggles against quality pitching have diminished his once legitimate 1.1 buzz early in the process, but it's hard to dispute how loud his tools could be with seasoning.
