This might be the spot in the mock that makes or breaks it for prognosticators as the Angels are all over the map, but there are those who think Jobe could end up being the best pitcher in this class.

And with Jackson Jobe’s senior campaign, it has become even more apparent. Through his six starts, Jobe has thrown two no-hitters and struck out 82 batters in 34 innings pitched while giving up just 11 hits and one earned run to tally a 0.202 ERA.

His slider is his top offering and draws rave reviews from scouts. His slider has an elite spin rate, as he typically throws the pitch with 3,100-plus revolutions per minute.

Solid floor as a wipeout, back of the bullpen reliever with at least a Plus 2 pitch combo (FB/SL Combo, With that SL grading as a future Double-Plus posting elite 3000-3250 RPM with 2 plane tilt. But I see a strong chance to stick as a mid-rotation Starting Pitcher with some upside to become a solid #2 as the Change Up develops into a league-average or better pitch. Pro coaching will only tighten this overall package up, and with the athleticism, feel to spin and locate. Will go to the Slider as a put-away pitch a majority of the time. Still developing endurance to hold plus stuff late into starts. Due to previously being a Primary INF, hasn’t focused much on starting until this summer. There is reason to think Jobe can add a 4th pitch to the mix, he has used a curveball in the past and shows an advanced feel for spin at a young age. Only enhancing his ceiling of becoming that #2 starter with high strikeout totals. Similar pitch arsenal to Jacob deGrom; overall comp of Corbin Burnes.

High School Pitchers - The One I Dream About Falling to 21: Jackson Jobe, RHP, Heritage Hall HS (OK). For a few months now, this has been the guy I have wanted for the Cubs. A super athlete on the mound (like recent picks Ryan Jensen, Koen Moreno), Jobe also has some of the highest spin rates in the entire draft class. I’ve been hopeful, at least until I read Carlos Collazo’s piece last week on 10 Early Season Draft Risers: “…it wouldn’t be surprising for Jobe to pitch his way to the top of the prep arms in the class.” Rats.

Teams will have to decide whether they like Jobe better at shortstop or on the mound. It's not an easy decision, as Jobe has one of the highest spin rates in the class on his slider as well as a low-to-mid-90s fastball.

The early feedback from scouts who have seen Jobe this season is highly positive. With his performance and the struggles of Florida prep righthander Andrew Painter, it wouldn’t be surprising for Jobe to pitch his way to the top of the prep arms in the class. Currently he is the third-ranked prep pitcher.
This season Jobe is still handling shortstop while he’s not pitching and when he is on the bump has held mid-90s velocity deep into his starts. His slider—which was voted the best breaking ball in the class—is still there and getting 60- and 70-grade projections at its best, while Jobe has also shown a potential plus changeup with impressive action. Refining a changeup or curveball was one of Jobe’s to-do list items, and it sounds like he’s done that.
That’s three 60-grade pitches out of an athletic, and fairly easy delivery, which should make teams think carefully about whether or not they want to take the plunge and go after a prep righthander in the first round. Jobe could be a safer prep righty profile, given his lack of upper-90s velocity and outstanding feel for spin.

Seen as a five-tool player who can throw 96 mph off the mound, he's also regarded as a prospect at shortstop. After his performance at the Perfect Game All-American Classic, Jobe will likely be drafted as a pitcher.

Jobe is a two-way, multi-sport athlete from the same high school that counts longtime NFL wide receivers Wes Welker and Sterling Shepherd among its alumni. Life has afforded him many possible paths; the one he seems likeliest to travel down leads to the mound, where he displays a Trackman-approved fastball-slider pairing and where he has a history of throwing strikes. Jobe, like most every prep right-hander, is likely to be dinged for the failures of the macro.

Jobe entered the summer as a talented two-way prospect, but it’s safe to say most teams view him as a higher-upside prospect on the mound. A fastball up to 95 mph and a 3,000+ rpm slider will do that. Scouts would like to see him take a step forward in his strike throwing to more effectively use both loud pitches. Further developing a curveball and changeup that are both solid but behind his fastball/slider combo will help as well.
