Before tonight’s double header, Mets loss, Chad Kreuter met with the media on a Zoom call.
Here are
some of the highlights:
The player
that tested positive earlier in the week was a false positive. Chad: “In the last three days there was a lot
of erroneous things going on about what happened here. We had a player here that came in with
symptoms, common cold symptoms. Like
everyone that comes into the clubhouse and all the locations, they are asked
screening questions. They do the self-test. When a
player reported Tuesday with a sore throat and cold like symptoms, they
received a rapid test which was positive.
The player was then given the more inclusive MLB approved test which was
shipped to Utah. We quarantined the
player and sent him home under MLB protocols.
The MLB test came back it was a negative. I know they were talking about
Conforto being held out…that’s not why.
We had a false positive. …we had four players that came in close contact
with that player…we only had 9 players plus Nimmo who was scheduled to go 6
innings…just a matter of not having enough players (for Tuesday’s game).”
“Most of
the players are vaccinated…vaccinated players do not need to be tested.”
On
additional pitchers for Syracuse: Vance Worley
has been signed and will pitch game two of tonight’s double header. Robert
Stock will pitch Saturday.
The plan
for Dellin
Betances is to pitch Friday or Saturday, then two days back to back next
week and see how he feels.
Cameron
Maybin tweaked his calf when he was first sent to Syracuse. He is very close to coming back.
What’s Vance Worley been doing? Hasn’t pitched since 2018?
