MacLeod's numbers may not be pretty, but he and Will Bednar continues to lead their team into the World Series.
Misses a lot of bats. Solid 3-potch mix.
A lof of people out there has him projected as a late first, but I believe he fell down a little from that perch near the end of the season.
Still, I project him as a solid SP3 pitcher at the next level,

Macleod has done nothing but shove at Mississippi St in his short time there between 2020 and 2021. Showing Above-average stuff across the board from a Fastball, Slider, and Changeup 3-pitch mix with Above average Command. He has shown a strong ability to miss bats at the college level, that will likely translate to roughly league average strikeout numbers. A mid rotation arm with a touch of upside as a #2 if the stuff takes a step forward.

MacLeod out-pitched Texas righthander Ty Madden in a highly anticipated matchup between the two, although the big-bodied lefthander took an inning to settle in. His fastball command out of the gate was a bit scattered, with MacLeod missing to his glove side with the pitch, but he made an adjustment in the second and from then on showed good feel to land a three-pitch mix. His fastball mostly hovered in the 89-91 mph range, but the pitch plays up significantly from that velocity. He generated eight whiffs with the pitch through the first three innings. He also threw a loopy curveball in the upper 70s that was a distinct third pitch and a low-80s changeup with solid fade and tumbling action to his arm side. The changeup got whiffs from hitters on both sides and MacLeod spotted the pitch down in the zone consistently.

MacLeod redshirted during the 2019 season, but came out loud in 2020, where he led Mississippi State in strikeouts (35) and innings pitched (21) while posting a 0.86 ERA. A big-bodied lefthander listed at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, MacLeod impressed scouts with his feel for locating a three-pitch mix. Nothing in his arsenal is a true plus pitch, but his stuff plays up at the collegiate level thanks to his control and poise on the mound. He sits in the 90-93 mph range with his fastball and can tick down from that as the outing progresses. He also has a breaking ball and a changeup that are reliable secondaries and can keep hitters off-balance. On paper, MacLeod has a similar profile to Indians’ 2020 second-rounder LHP Logan Allen and he has himself in Day one consideration thanks to his strikeout and walk rates despite pure stuff that is more middling.

Minnesota Twins
It’s been a while since the Twins took a pitcher in the draft, and with the amount of arm talent this year, it is possible they break their pitching fast. The Twins are in a good spot to grab a lefthanded pitcher, and one who would definitely intrigue them is Mississippi State’s Christian MacLeod. Though MacLeod only got in four starts before the COVID shutdown his contributions were greatly appreciated in part due to JT Ginn’s Tommy John surgery. MacLeod is is a pitchability lefty with a particularly strong out pitch in his curveball. His delivery is a 3/4 slot, and his mechanics are easily repeatable. MacLeod is one of the more advanced arms in the class and could be one of the first 2021 draftees in the majors.

Collegiate Baseball Newspaper tabbed Mississippi State baseball’s lefty ace Christian MacLeod a preseason second-team All-American on Tuesday (Dec. 22).
MacLeod impressed in his 2020 debut season, earning a perfect 4-0 record on an 0.86 ERA with 35 strikeouts over 21 innings pitched. On February 15 he burst on the scene, striking out the most batters by a Bulldog in a collegiate debut since at least 1985 with 11 versus Wright State on his way to earning SEC Co-Freshman of the Week laurels.

At No. 40 on the list is State's ace left-hander Christian MacLeod. In a shortened redshirt freshman season in 2020, the southpaw quickly cemented himself as the anchor of the Bulldog rotation. He led the team in strikeouts (35), innings pitched (21.0) and wins (4). MacLeod had a microscopic 0.86 earned run average and limited hitters to just a .127 batting average.

MacLeod uses his 6-foot-4 frame and high three-quarters arm slot to create downhill plane on his pitches and good extension in his delivery, which he repeats easily. His strength, durability and efficiency with locating his offerings all enhance his chances at making a big league rotation. He keeps hitters off balance with his ability to sequence his pitches and move them around the strike zone.

3. Detroit Tigers | Matt McLain, SS, UCLA | (2/32) Christian MacLeod, LHP, Mississippi State
McLain put himself right back into the top prospect draft talk after hitting .397 with three home runs and 19 RBI in the shortened 2020 campaign at UCLA and he continued to rake this summer for Santa Barbara Foresters with a .436 batting average. In other words, he did exactly what he was supposed to do and if he puts together another season with similar numbers at the plate, he could go as high as two in this draft. Macleod looks primed for somewhat of a breakout season in 2021 as a backbone for the Mississippi State rotation. His high draft stock is rooted in projection as he stands 6-foot-4, 227-pounds, and he only stands to get stronger. The physical southpaw has a high over the top slot and comps very well to Yankee southpaw and former Gamecock Jordan Montgomery. He could easily work his way into the first round with a strong 2021 campaign. -Connor Spencer
Sakowski’s Take: As the Tigers start to look towards contention with their nucleus of power arms starting to take center stage and big bats like Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson coming soon, this could be the last time we see Detroit pick this high up for awhile. McLain would give Detroit an injection of athleticism with top-of-the-order tools, while MacLeod brings SEC performance and big projection traits for new pitching coach Chris Fetter to work with. A draft like this would go a long ways towards adding to the core of the next Tigers contender.

If the Indians opt to add to their pitching depth with their first-round pick Mississippi State left-hander, Christian MacLeod should be a top target.
MacLeod will be a draft-eligible sophomore in 2021 after a dominant shortened 2020 season on the bump for the Bulldogs.
MacLeod posted a perfect 4-0 record with a 0.86 ERA and struck out a whopping 35 strikeouts in just 21 innings of work.
He took home several awards, including Co-National Freshman Player of the Year by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, Freshman All-America team and third-team All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and SEC Co-Freshman of the Week after his dominant 11-strikeout performance over Wright State.

MacLeod may be undervalued here as he's another arm that simply doesn't have the innings behind him yet. Missed his entire freshman year with pneumonia, then only logged just 21 innings in abbreviated 2020. Posted 35 punchies and just six walks. Generally sits 90-93, with expected gains to come. Both the curveball and changeup have flashed solid average offerings, the curve sometimes plus. Given his frame and arsenal, MacLeod could end up a top 20 pick with a similar 2021 campaign.
