Good morning.
The draft starts today at 7pm.
This is the first of three posts (others at 9am and 10am) that will show you what my excel sheet shows as the top players... in order... by position.
You can then set up your own draft board using this info, if desired, and cross off as each pick is taken.
Lastly... AND IMPORTANT... For the first two days, I will post individual scouting information on each of the Mets picks within an hour after the name is called out.
Day three will probably take a little longer.
I will also include my own thoughts on the pick.

ReplyDeleteIs the list ordered by rank? Because I thought lieter was ahead of kumar in your last ranking?
Yes.
ReplyDeleteIt is ranked by what I THINK, not the other so called experts.
I know Rocker had a poor showing in the CWS and he was lite all of the second half of the season, but I truly believe that this will be the biggest star someday to come out of this draft.
I meant to ask this a week ago, and I am sorry to ask now. If you were in charge of the draft, who would you take in the first round? Who would you not take in the first round at the Mets spot that you are hearing would be available or linked to the Mets? Who would be a realistic 2nd round pick that has fallen to the Mets spot?
ReplyDeleteMack, I am guessing you think we grab Bernard in Round 1 unless someone slides down? J.T. Ginn was dominant last night and looks like a superior 2020 draft selection.
ReplyDeleteGentleman we will have super mojo going for us today because it's my birthday 7-11-47 so whoever we pick will be special I promise. Also for me it's pitching pitching and more pitching please it's what wins in the post season.
ReplyDelete7-11? Have a large cup of 7-11 coffee to celebrate. I got you a Megill wind up toy for your birthday. It throws fastballs and change ups and says “we’re gonna win today.”
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom and may the "stars" be with us today.
ReplyDeleteShawn
ReplyDeleteNo problem.
1. My pick for 1.10 is Mississippi State RHP Will Bednar
2. I would not pock OF Sal Frelick. Too small for me.
3. I like Florida RHP Tommy Mace in the 2nd round
Tom -
ReplyDeleteWho is Bernard?
Bednar?
If so, yes
Tom -
ReplyDeleteLet me clarify that.
Bednar is MY favorite.
I would be happy with any of the top 4 RHPs below Leiter and Rocker... Bednar, Jobe, Madden, Backman
I would stay away from any of the shortstops unless I planned on converting them to either second of third.
Naturally I would take either Rocker, Leiter, or Davis if they fell to 1.10.

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday young man.
Got ya beat by 5 months.
Mack, yes, Bednar. Man, do I despise the Auto Incorrect feature.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mack, this is alot, alot of work. We appreciate.
ReplyDeleteGus
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome.
You, Tom, and Eddie have always added content
I agree wholeheartedly with Gus and offer a huge thanks to Mack for his extensive reasearch and work to follow all the potential draft picks. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI have just a little different take on the draft than Mack and most of the rest of you. I was going to write up a short piece on this but just ran out of time.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see this draft restock the outfield with high-level athletes. My #1 pick would be Frelick and hoping Wood falls to #43. After those two, I'd go pitching for at least the next three rounds.
The only way I would change my mind is if for some reason H. Davis were to fall to 10 (not a chance), or possibly Ford, del Castillo, or Nelson falling into the second round as a catcher. (also, precious little chance of that)
I would not be unhappy if one of the top four lefties, particularly Haijar would fall to #43 as well.
69, I have to ask you because I just disagree so much…. Why not get as much RHP as you can get in a draft that has alot of it and your system is empty, especially since the outfielders aren’t considered plus prospects? Even Frelick is a light bat good speed guy. Why go after him in the first round? I would hope they can get at least three good pitchers and help restock the cupboard.
ReplyDeleteI agree that they need pitching, but the only plus outfielder in the entire system is Crow-Armstrong. (altho I am hoping Ramirez moves up the prospect list and becomes one of their top ones.)
ReplyDeleteI like the speed and athletic guys. I see Frelick as a Dykstra type player.
They need so much to replenish their system from top to bottom (except for decent hitting third basemen). I certainly have no problem pulling pitchers in with picks 3 through 10, but I'd really like to see some good outfield bats first.
Just me .. and I also get it why others are on a pitching first mode.
Mets get Rocker.
ReplyDeleteHope the top 9 pickers don’t know what they are doing.
Or…
