Mack - Players That Might Be Around When We pick in the 2nd Round

 

 

This is totally subjective.

 

Just too many facters like what other teams will do. But I can project some of these guys that might still be around when we pick in the second round.

 

They are:

 

RHP Jaden Hill - The LSU Friday Night starter went down early and had season ending TJS. He is projected to sit out the entire 2022 season. Yet he still was one of the top ten picks in the draft before the injury. I expect him gone by the time we pick, but if he isn’t, do we try to pull off anther JT Ginn thing?

 

RHP Christian Scott - One of the top relievers in college. Pitched for Florida in 26 games, posting a 1.04 WHIP, while striking out 51 in 53 innings.

 

LHP Gage Jump - Power prep pitcher out of powerhouse JSerra HS. Stands only 5-11 but makes up for it with top 96 fastball that has ride. Misses a lot of bats. High spin rate on curve.

 

C Mat Nelson - Would be an interesting pick. Led all of college with 23 home runs and was 5^th in slugging percentage (.773) playing for Florda State against the top potchers in the nation. Decent defender too. I would scoop him up if I was the Mets picker.

 

C Ian Moller - One of the better prep bats and probably the best behind the plate. Is projected to hit 25-30 home runs at the next level and is also projected to stick behind the plate.

 

2B Tyler Black - Led Wright State with a .383 batting average. 1.179-OPS and 13 home runs. Only struck out 25 times in 183 at bats. Relatively unfollowed because of the smaller school he played for.

 

OF Braden Montgomery - currently ranks 60th among the 2021 draft prospects according to MLB.com, and it’s easy to see why. In 84 at bats (thru 5-23) in his senior season at Madison Central, he is hitting for a blistering .476 average with 45 RBI. He possesses power from both sides of the plate as a switch-hitter to go along with the above-average speed and defense in centerfield.

 

OF Tyree Reed - comes with good athleticism, strong makeup, and leadership qualities. A CF/RF Profile, with 5 tool potential and a projectable body. Reed has one of the best all-around skill sets in the entire class. An impact player on both sides of the ball with a decent chance at sticking in CF or becoming a potential high caliber RF prospect with that big arm talent and ability to cover ground with quick bursts and solid speed will translate well. Developing power at the plate that shows 25+ HR Potential down the line and solid on-base potential can find himself hitting near the top of the lineup. All-Star caliber performer. Uses the entire field well. Similar to Curtis Granderson.
