The Mets are home to play the Cincinnati Reds. It's the final game of the three game series.
Today’s
Lineup: Jeff McNeil 2B; Pete Alonso 1B; Dominic Smith LF; Javier Baez SS; Michael Conforto RF; Brandon Drury 3B; Kevin Pillar CF; Tomás Nido C; Marcus Stroman P;
Guillorme on IL? Insane.
ReplyDeleteIf Blankenhorn cannot be immediately recalled, how about....IF Drew Jackson. In July, in 25 AAA games, he has been sensational. .361/.477/.514, 9 steals. I HATE IT when guys like this never get promoted.
And Drew Jackson can play the outfield well too. A very versatile player - but not on the 40 man roster
ReplyDeleteJohn, I hate rules that block guys from reaching the majors. “Sorry son, we’d bring you up but you know, this 40 man rule, we just can’t do anything for you. Keep plugging along in AAA, in the meantime. Maybe someday. Maybe.”
ReplyDeleteRoster Management is a very important front office skill. It seems to me that the Mets have not been the best at it over the last 5-6 years. Lots of times they seemed short handed because they had too many on short term DLs, etc.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Of course, it was great to see Conforto break out - he drew a walk.
ReplyDeleteThe hitting has sucked for over 100 games. Will it ever really gel and erupt?
Boras' other client, Conforto, is 24 for 143 since early May (.168). Again, that's May, June, and July, half the length time-wise of a baseball season. .168.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt, Boras will want the same # of years and perhaps he'll generously concede to a million per year less to sign his invaluable client. No doubt we will end up saying no, again.
Nice update from our friend Ernest Dove. I am, however, less interested in when a guy goes from Low A to High A or High A to AA, as I am in when a guy can truly help the Mets.
ReplyDeleteTo me, there are 5 hitters who are just over the horizon.
