2. Steve Matz - Toronto Blue Jays 54-48: 8-6 W/L / 4.58 ERA / 1.38 WHIP Last outing lasted three innings giving up 4 ryns. AL may be getting used to him now. With Jose Berrios on the team, Matz is their number five starter.
3. Justin Dunn - Seattle Mariners: 5-4 W/L / 3.94 ERA / 92 K / 1.35 WHIP Not bad and he seems to be settling in now whenever he gets into games.
Chris Flexen - Seattle Mariners: 9-5 / 3.81 ERA / 69 K / 1.25 WHIP
Josh Walker (as I had suspected he would) threw a brilliant game for AAA Syracuse Mets in his second start there. He had a no-hitter going into the eighth inning. But Syracuse brought in reliever Geoff Hartlieb who then gave up a homerun ball to Matt Pita and Scranton won the game.
My point here.
I finally got to see a little video on Josh Walker, the lefty 26 year old AAA Syracuse pitcher. I liked what I saw. He's 6'6" and has mound poise. I think that the Mets are literally going to have to find their most talented starters the old fashioned way. Guys who earn a call-up, for once.
I think it could be potentially possible here that Josh Walker could be this team's best young lefty starter going right now. Peterson technically should be coming off the Injury List soon I think that I read recently. Szapucki is done for the season. One of these two starters, David or Josh, could conceivably step enough to really help this Mets team out once ready to. I am not really sure what Rich Hill has left in the tank, although man he was once superlative for certain. A true winning starter.
Being down without Jake and Noah until maybe mid-September, it is looking like, and with Taijuan and Carlos also a possible question mark going forward (with this team's luck factor) this would be a big boost for the Mets rotation having at least one of these two lefties in the Mets rotation.
Hindsight being 20-20, Jose Berrios may have been the correct answer for here at the trade deadline, but Minny may have had their eyes on someone else to receive back. But always remember, it isn't over until the fat lady sings people.
Mets SP Tylor Megill goes tonight! Thank you Lord!
The NY Jets and NY Giants are so totally lost in space the last few years it seems. There is zero excitement attached to either football franchise. So all I have personally to follow after baseball, are the NY Knicks with new center Jericho Sims, a difference maker athlete. A perfect draft selection.
