1965 | Giants center fielder Willie Mays breaks Ralph Kiner's record for home runs in a month when the 'Say Hey Kid' hits a moon shot off Jack Fischer for his 17th round-tripper in an 8-3 victory over New York. The former Pirates outfielder, now a broadcaster for the Mets on WHN radio and WOR-TV, calls the four-bagger which breaks the monthly mark he established with 16 round-trippers in 1949 during September. |

Syndergaard 29 today. Time flies.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great Koosman story where he pranked Seaver. A must listen.
Roney has not allowed a hit in relief in AAA over his last 8 inning. A very high K/high BB guy.
Montes de Oca coming on strong in Brooklyn.
A clock is right twice a day. Is Conforto ready for a Sept tear…or fan tears?
I hope Conforto is ready for a tear. Pillar tends to be hot and cold - hope he can stays hot for a bit as well.
ReplyDeleteYou wonder if Conforto seeing his replacement hit 2 HRs gave him extra motivation to come through as a PH.
1969 and I saw Roney pitch in Binghamton soon after he was picked up - he looked real good - now 28, the former Brave and Diamondback prospect has given Syracuse and Binghamton some good innings this year. If we had 40 man rosters in September - maybe he'd be a callup - don't think so with 28.
I would definitely give Thor2/3 starts in Sept. to see if it is worth making him a 2022 offer.
ReplyDeleteJake?
No.
Shut him down
