ADAM MAIER
University of British Columbia, RHP
The fastest rising name from a Canadian perspective and maybe one of the fastest rising prospects overall for 2022, Maier figures to head the charge for UBC next spring. Prospects Live prospects evaluator Geoff Pontes (@ProspectJesus) saw Maier on the cape this summer and left in awe. The solidly built right-hander was 92-93, but his secondaries might be the story here. Maier features a plus slider with very high spin rate and an above average changeup. With only 19 collegiate innings, there’s still plenty to prove. Maier is also young for the college class as he doesn’t turn 20 until November. The combination of his three-pitch mix and age, Maier has the opportunity to absolutely fly up draft boards, though the competition he’ll face in Canada figures to be step back from the opposition on the Cape. Maier has the legitimate possibility of being the first Canadian off the board next July. He’s got Top-100 pick upside.

There sure has been a lot written about Maier lately. Some say he has the best breaking ball in the draft.
I have started him off at 34th on my RHP board and we will keep track of him in his 2022 season.

Dominic Keegan (Vanderbilt)
Keegan was drafted in the 19th round by the Yankees this year, but opted not to sign and return to Vanderbilt for a fourth season. As a right-right first baseman, there's a lot of pressure on his bat to carry him as a prospect. That said, his Cape performance continued to support the notion it’s there. Over 49 plate appearances, Keegan slashed .302/.388/.651 with five homers. Yeah, that’s a homer every 10 at-bats. Keegan may get some run behind the plate for Vandy in 2022 and certainly seems to have some of the best juice of any player in the 2022 class.

I don't care how many strikeouts he had. I can't Believe that Keegan wasn't drafted until the 19th round.
Sure, his defensive game has limitations, but we do have DH these days. Look at that stat line!
They said this about Pete Alonso too.

5 pitches for Chase Shores (TX) as he works a very painless, clean inning. Quick arm, tough slot, this last FB was at 95 & showed a SL w/ good horizontal action

8-16-21 - Prospects Live - Pacific Northwest Prospects -
RYAN ORR
RHP Tumwater High School (Olympia, Washington)
Orr has a really appealing operation on the bump with good tempo, rhythm and balance. The 6-footer has a quick arm and budding velocity, up to 92 on the bump. His bread and butter is a big, downer curveball he commands well to both sides of the plate. He also features a firm mid-80s changeup. Orr has a really solid mechanics and if the stuff continues to tick up moving toward July, he could be an intriguing name for the draft. Orr is committed to Washington State.
