Mack - Draft Thoughts Elijah Green, Eric Adler, Ian Richie, Zach Neto, Bryce Osmond

9-7-21 - Vinnie Cervino @vcervinoPG

Checking out the national team today at The Trop & starting to think this Elijah Green guy is good at baseball. The #1 ‘22 prospect w/ another 400+ foot, titanic blast. Make sure the volume is up as this was LOUD

            9-6-21 - Keanan Lamb @keananlamb

Different angle for Elijah Green's monster blast last night from my home plate angle. Notice shaking off the signs and cycling through, only to get to that result. Love Chase Marshall's smile and shrug, sometimes you have to tip your cap.

Mack's spin -

No changes on my board here.

Still my #1 pick, both in the outfield and overall.

 9-9-21 - Prospects Live - 2022 MLB DRAFT - TOP 150 PROSPECTS -

84 Eric Adler        RHP        Wake Forest

Rockledge, FL Adler throws a high-spin fastball up to 96 with arm-side run and significant carry at times. The slider is a heavy-vertical breaking ball with plus spin characteristics. He also shows a cutter in the high 80s. Adler has some of the better pure stuff at it's best in the class.

9-6-21 - BA - Top Cape Prospects 25-50  -

30. Eric Adler, RHP, Bourne (Third-year sophomore, Wake Forest)

Adler has been a key reliever for Wake Forest in each of his first two seasons in Winston-Salem and this spring served as closer. He this summer was the best reliever on the Cape and went 2-0, 0.96 with seven saves in 18.2 innings (including the playoffs). He struck out 30 batters and walked seven.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, Adler attacks hitters with a powerful fastball-slider combination. His fastball sits 95-96 mph and has a high spin rate, which helps him miss bats. He pairs it with a sharp slider that is also a swing-and-miss offering. He throws a lot of strikes and has average control. Adler projects as a reliever, but he should be one of the best in the country in 2022.

Mack's spin -

Seems to have made a nice splash for himself on the Cape.

We will keep an eye on him as the mock season progresses.

 9-9-21 - Prospects Live - 2022 MLB DRAFT - TOP 150 PROSPECTS -

20. Ian (JR) Ritchie

Right-Handed Pitcher, Bainbridge HS

In a deep prep pitching class, Ritchie stands out for a loud package of both pure stuff and control/command. The fastball sits 92-95 on most days, up to 97. He has a firm, tight slider up into the mid-80s with late two-plane break that he also commands very well. He also built a deeper, high-70s curveball into his arsenal with distinct vertical movement and significant spin rates. Jordan Lawlar called his breaking ball the best pitch he saw all summer in 2021. Ritchie also features a changeup he’s shown feel for with good arm-side fade that he deploys primarily against lefties. Finally, he's working to mix in a low-90s 2-seam fastball, deployed away from righty bats. Ritchie has an extremely quick arm with elite mechanics and lower half strength. He’s a very good bet to start long-term, and has the potential to be the best prep arm to come out of Washington since Blake Snell or Tim Lincecum.

9-7-21 - Joe Doyle @JoeDoyleMiLB

Ian (JR) Ritchie is one of the most exciting prep arms in the 2022 class. Armed w/5 pitches including a 97 mph FB and a disgusting slider, as well as renowned for his mechanics on the bump. He's the total package.

9-1-21 - MLB - Top high school prospects for '22 Draft

                 9. Ian Ritchie Jr., RHP, Bainbridge HS (Wash.)

College commitment: UCLA

Ritchie might have been more impressive last summer as an underclassman, but the top player from the Pacific Northwest still showcased a fastball that sat around 93 mph and touched 95. His curve had been a signature pitch in the past, but he used a solid low-80s slider more often this summer to go along with good feel for a changeup.

Mack's spin -

Richie is a big time pitching prospect and sits on my RHP board as #3.

 9-9-21 - Prospects Live - 2022 MLB DRAFT - TOP 150 PROSPECTS -

18. Zach Neto

Shortstop, Campbell

Neto really exudes confidence and athleticism at the plate. He extends really well and has a knack for catching the ball out in front, tapping into a lot of his raw power. He's a good hitter with a track record of success at school and on the cape as well. It’s a rhythmic swing that relies on timing, though Neto has shown real feel for putting his body in a position to damage the baseball. Some of the quirks in his setup and swing have been compared to Javier Baez. Really good feel for tempo on the dirt with soft hands and body control. Arm might only be average, but Neto can make throws from any angle. Whether he ends up at second base, shortstop or anywhere else on the diamond, Neto has a pretty complete profile that will appeal to teams.

9-1-21 - PG: Cape Cod Wrap Up: Top Tools -

Best Infield Arm: Zach Neto, SS, Campbell | Brewster (2022)

Why: This was stiff competition as there were plenty of options across the league. The infield talent has never been as deep as it was this season and with that came some strong infield arms, particularly at shortstop. Of course that’s not surprising. Among that group, Neto’s arm stuck out the most. While he wasn’t always the most accurate, his sheer strength, quick release and ability to find his center of gravity were pretty remarkable.

Mack's spin -

Neto is quietly creeping up to be a consideration for a first round pick.

Currently on my board:  5th SS

9-9-21 - Prospects Live - 2022 MLB DRAFT - TOP 150 PROSPECTS -

49 Bryce Osmond        RHP        Oklahoma State

Tulsa, OK Big fastball touching 96. Extremely quick arm and athleticism on the mound suggests more is certainly coming. Firm slider, 83-86 generates plenty of swing and miss. Offers a fringier curveball as well. Changeup in development. High-octane arm with starting pitcher traits.

 8-30-21 - Prospects Live - Top 50 Cape Prospects -

23. BRYCE OSMOND, RHP

OKLAHOMA STATE (2022): CHATHAM ANGLERS

FB CB SL CH Command FV

50/55 45/55 40/50 40/40 45/55 5

92-94, Low spin fastball. Four pitch mix. Curveball go to secondary offering and can land for strike. Has a projectible pitcher’s body. Room to continue adding overall body strength. Long arm action and a high release height. Throws downhill and gets above average IVB on fastball despite low spin. Projects as a starting pitcher long term in pro-ball.

Mack's spin -

A few other righties have knocked down Osmond a few slots on my RHP board.

Right now he sits as the 6th RHP.

  1. Neto looks promising, but not sure we will need a SS any time soon

  2. He is kind of hustle that will easily play second.
