Thanks for the report, John. I didn't realize until now that the Caribbean Winter Leagues had started. Do you have a list of Mets farmhands there that you can share with us?
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill. I will post a list or at least link to one with that info. Besides the ones mentioned above there are David Rodriguez, Wilfredo Tovar and Oscar Campos in Venezuela plus Franklyn Kilome and Wagner Lagrange in the Dominican. Robbie Cano and others like Edwin Diaz and Familia are on rosters but are not active yet.
ReplyDeletePuerto Rico league starts next week.
ReplyDeleteMauricio HR was a shot. Looks a lot like Darryl.
ReplyDeleteOne of the worst performing pitchers on the Rafters is Wilmer Flores. The one that’s almost 21. Not Weeping Wilmer.
ReplyDeleteWilmer Flores pitched in Low-A last year so being in Arizona is a bit of a stretch. A Tigers prospect he struck out 90 in 66 innings last year while giving up 62 hits - just 1 HR. I'd say he's one to watch - bad AFL or no bad AFL.
ReplyDeleteThe AZL is supposed to showcase top prospects. Do any of our pitchers there fit that description?
ReplyDeleteBill,
ReplyDeleteI would say none of the Mets Pitchers there are top prospects. I think they are there to get innings in. Garrison Bryant and Brian Metoyer (as well as SS/2B Wilmer Reyes) both had injuries this past year. This Fall is just about getting extra work.
This Fall has been hard on the pitchers - lots of walks due to the Robo-Umps. It has taken a while for them to get use to them
Baty just hit a 2 run 9th inning HR is today's game - details now on Mack's Mets Gameday - we will post results here later as well.
