  1. Metoyer got off to a bad AFL season start, but has been dominant out of the pen his last 3 or so outings. Ks galore.

  2. Baseball America rated Metoyer with the best curveball in the Mets system - he was hitting upper 90's and even touching 100 with his fastball as well before he suffered an injury this last year. As long as he can stay healthy, he will have a shot.

He is Rule 5 eligible this Winter - he will be on the Syracuse Roster at the very least to protect him from the Minor League Portion of the draft. He might even be someone that a team takes a gamble on.

  3. Aside from Baty, who e the Mets wanted to challenge, everyone else going to AFL is Rule 5 eligible. Did they send them to give the team a chance to evaluate? Probably. So, depending on their results in Arizona, will be how the Mets approach them - I believe.

  4. Good point Gus. Also, a number lost time over the season. This is also a chance for them to just get work in.

  5. O.K. guys why is no one talking about Johneshway?

    1. I'm not 100 % sure, but I believe Johneshway was either released, traded, or put on waivers, and is no longer Mets property.

    2. He was put on waivers and was claimed by the Cubs

  6. Too painful for me. Who knows. Maybe he comes back to us.

  7. My assessment is the Mets should Rule 5 protect both Cortes and Metoyer. The others? Are they better than what other orgs will expose? Doubt it. Might be better off seeing if there is someone worth selecting.

  8. John, when I saw Fargas start off well with the Mets, I thought to myself: don’t be TOO eager and get hurt. That was a wall he should not have rammed into. Career opportunities don’t come every day.

  9. So...the Cubs have Fargas....AND the Crow? Time to switch allegiance.

BTW, the Seattle GM is convinced Kelenic is a future All Star.

  10. And I am pretty sure he is not wrong.

I also am high on Crow-Armstrong. That hurt to lose him so soon. Hopefully Ramirez is the real deal and moves through the system quickly. (I was also high on Isaiah Greene . . hard to believe they swapped both of those high draft picks right away).

  11. Baseball Reference still had Johneshway listed on the Cubs but he elected Free Agency on November 7th. Anyone up for a reunion?
