Keen eye for the strikezone.

Right now, more of slasher than a banger.

Average tools across the board, but lightning quick hands and a reliable, compact release.

7.8% K rate.

Dark horse.

5. Jared Poland (5)

6-0 215 Louisville

Used as relief pitcher in 2021,

Went 0-1-, 3.94, 14-K, 16.0-IP .

8. Blake Cyr (new)

6-0 175 Windermere HS

Short, compact right-handed swing.

Transfer out of the University of Alabama-Birmingham

One of the fastest players in the country.

Some believe his speed/instincts have his future in the outfield.

Dynamic at the plate.

All-fields approach.

2021 Michigan stat line -

35-G, 114-AB, .342/.434/.667, 7-HR

Can fill up a box score.

There's power here.

There's feel for hit.

The biggest question is his throwing arm.

Has little conviction in his ability to throw to a base.

His confidence at second base needs to improve.

  1. Mitchell Daly, who can "really, really hit" and do everything else well enough, seems like a good 2B choice if Mauricio is not being moved to 2B.

    1. Daly would make a great 3rd round pick but he may not last that long.

Also, the 3rd round might be a round we need to draft cheap underslot seniors.

  2. In reading the writeups, how high would the system jump in rankings if the Mets can get Johnson at 11 and Daly as one of the compensation picks in Round 2?
