Mack’s Daily Minors Recap - 8-24-2022 Games

8-24-2022 Games

AAA -

The Mets are going to have to do something about this Daniel Palka. Everyone is hung up on either Mark Vientos or Francisco, but this dude just keeps on hitting home runs.

Last night he passed Vientos with his 24th yard shot in a 6-4 loss to Worcester. 3/4 of the Mets runs came in the 1st inning.

Vientos did have a couple of hits, one being in the 5th, scoring Dominic Smith for their 4th run.

Prospect stats:

3B Mark Vientos 2-4, R, RBI, .293

1B Daniel Palka 1-4, R, 2-RBI, .278, 24th HR

AA -

Reading beat the B-Mets, 4-3.

Carlos Corles, Luke Ritter, and Ronny Mauricio all extended their hit streak to six games

Justin Courtney made his Double-A debut in relief and pitched two scoreless innings allowing three hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

Jake Magnum had his 2nd straight multi-hit game.

Caution alert - I know there a bunch of Mauricio fams out there and were outraged that he fell off the top 100 prospect list. Well, last night brought two more errors at his primary position, SS, and raising his year total to a whopping 24. So, there has been no movement to the outfield yet, and he is from hunger where he is supposed to be playing.

Prospect stats -

SS Ronny Mauricio 1-3, 2-R, .253

CF Jake Magnum 2-4, .295

A+ -

Matt Rudick’s sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th provided the winning margin as Brookyln defeated the Jersey Shore BlueClaws 5-4 in extra innings.

Stanley Consuegra went 2-for-4, including a home run and a pair of RBIs.

I’m a big Junior Santos fan, but he just isn’t there yet. Santos gave up two runs in 5.2 innings, while striking out eight.

Prospect stats -

CF Alex Ramirez 1-5, .258

SP Junior Santos  5.2-IP, 3-H, 3-ER, 8-K, 4.76

A -

Undrafted free agent RHSP Jordan Gerber had another choppy start. In his 4th start this year, he gave up 3-ER in 6-IP and came away with a 5.79-ERA. Gerber was a 5th year senior out of VT.

Lucy did recover, winning with a walk-off 5-4 win against Pslm Beach. They trailed 4-0 but fought back for a great win.

Prospect stats -

3B Chase Estep 1-4, .273

2B D’Andre Smith 2-3, 2-R, 3B (1), RBI, .429
