Yeah, yeah, I know it’s early, but it’s never too early for the mockworld and you need to know what’s going out there so far.
You know the Mack drill. I take the last 10 mock drafts I can find online not behind paywalls and average them together to give you an idea where the so-called experts are calling this (I say so-called because 50% of the current mock drafts I have show RHP Travis Sykora being the 1.8 pick in this draft, and the other 50% not even having him in the first round).
So far (it’s early), I have four mock drafts to average up and give you the first peek here.
I also predict the Mets will have the 1.28 pick and will highlight that person chosen.
So here goes:
1.1 OF Dylan Crews
1.2 SS Jacob Gonzalez
1.3 OF Max Clark
1.4 OF Walker Jenkins
1.5 RHP Chase Dollinger
1.6 OF Enrique Banfield Jr.
1.7 LHP Thomas White
1.8 RHP Hurston Waldrep
1.9 RHP Will Sanders
1.10 OF Wyatt Langford
1.11 3B Brock Wilken
1.12 SS Kevin McGonigle
1.13 SS Jacob Wilson
1.14 RHP Paul Skenes
1.15 RHP Travis Sykora
1.16 RHP Cade Kuehler
1.17 SS Brayden Taylor
1.18 3B Yohandy Morales
1.19 3B Aidan Miller
1.20 RHP Nobel Meyer
1.21 C Blake Mitchell
1.22 RHP Tanner Witt
1.23 SS Eric Bitonti
1.24 OF Travis Honeyman
1.25 RHP Christian Little
1.26 RHP Patrick Reilly
1.27 C Caden Grice
1.28 OF Jack Hurley
OF Virginia Tech

The 2023 MLB Draft Show has ARRIVED
We're kickin' things off with Jack Hurley (@jhurlz5), an ultra-talented OF with Hokies Baseball. Hurley is a potential 5-tool guy who hit .375 with 14 homers and 10 stolen bags in 2022. A BIG name to know. https://t.co/kOkfKNFsDj

15. Jack Hurley
Outfield, Virginia Tech
Hurley is a bit of a five-tool player who can impact the game in every aspect. He's got the hit tool and the raw power, and he's got the speed to steal double-digit bases as a pro. If there's one critique here, it may be that the throwing arm is below average, maybe a touch better than that. Hurley comes packed in an athletic frame with well-proportioned strength and organic loft built into his swing. He doesn't have to sellout for power or force things to his pull-side. He does a good job staying up the middle of the field and letting his bat speed handle the rest. Hurley has gone through occasional periods of swing-and-miss, coming almost exclusively by way of the changeup, but that's a development piece that should come as he ages. This is a big league regular bat.
1.29 3B Drew Bowser
1.30 SS Roch Cholowsky
Jack Hurley - a great pickup for Irish NY Mets fans, if it happens

ReplyDeleteI think he will be there when the Mets pick
super early but love these
ReplyDeleteeven for guys like me, its hard to keep track of top 30 guys when the mets pick so low.
10 to 12 guys sure... but 30 ? diffiult... what i will say is we need ACES... and I dont believe we have any of that potential in the pipeline... that what makes this past draft disappointing...
but I also feel we need OF'ers so this virgina kid would help...and hopefully as a College bat help soon...
Also i am hoping that Jett is a CF...
Eddie
ReplyDeleteRegarding ACES... I think we have three... Dom Hamel, Calvin Zeigler, Blade Tidwell... that are developing to be future rotation pieces.
Tidwell has SP1 potential
The other two SP3/4
Far too early to figure this out, especially since there is another season to go.
Still, fun to track early
