Mack - Prospect Report

9-7-22 -Top 5 New Jersey HS Prospects -https://www.prepbaseballreport.com/news/NJ/Updated-2023-New-Jersey-Player-Rankings-4281906357

No.1 Oregon recruit RHP Steven Echavarria (Millburn) takes back the top slot after a monster showing at the Area Code Games in August. Echavarria's fastball got up to 93 mph at the event - the arm action is whippy and the frame still has room to fill out. Slider shows flashes of a sweeper at 75-77 and some solid armside run on an 83-85 changeup as well.

9-8-22 - Jheremy Brown @JBrownPG

This was my first in person look of the summer at 6-6 LHP RJ Cope & hard not to be impressed.

Athletic operation & ball jumped out of hand, up to 88 mph w/ plenty more in the tank. Simple delivery given size, feel for spin. Played up an age level or 2 entire summer.

1. Max Clark, OF, Franklin HS (Ind.)

While he hasn’t had the most productive summer at the bat, Clark remains the clear-cut top prep player in the country, one who has all five tools at his disposal. He’s now about to play for Team USA in the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup that begins in Bradenton, Fla. on Friday.

The MLB's push to turn its draft into an NFL-style spectacle will make its biggest move yet, as the 2023 draft will take place during All-Star weekend in Seattle.

Joe Doyle of Prospects Live reported MLB is set to host its draft from July 9 to July 11 next year, coinciding with the Midsummer Classic.

The MLB draft was traditionally held in June until the last two. years, when MLB shifted it to July but did not associate it with the All-Star Game. Once held with little-to-no fanfare, MLB has been broadcasting the first two rounds in recent years.

9-6-22 - UPDATED 2023 TEXAS PLAYER RANKINGS

https://www.prepbaseballreport.com/news/TX/Updated-2023-Texas-Player-Rankings-7591230864

#2 Travis Sykora - RHP - Round Rock - Texas Commit

Sykora has cemented his status as the hardest thrower in the country. He touched 100 regularly this spring/summer and his secondary pitches continue to get better.  Here is Shooter Hunt on Sykora at Area Code Games:

As RHP Travis Sykora (Round Rock HS, TX) took the hill to warm up, the stadium fell silent in anticipation. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Texas recruit didn’t disappoint. He sat 99-100 in the first inning before settling in at 94-98 for the next two. He used his 85-87 slider heavily at first, then went to an 84-87 splitter that the bottom drops out of.

There have been a lot of hard throwers at Area Code Games--Tyler Kolek, Riley Pint, Hunter Greene, Jared Kelley and Chase Petty in the last 10 years. Petty and Sykora are the only two to hit 100 in that time. In three innings, Sykora allowed one hit and struck out five.

9-3-22 - PBR LOUISIANA: 2023 RANKINGS UPDATE

https://www.prepbaseballreport.com/news/LA/PBR-Louisiana-4058629173?s=03 -

-2023 LHP/OF Jake Brown (Sulphur HS):  A lot of good things have happened for the Sulphur product over the course of the last twelve months, and for his performance, Brown has moved into the #1 spot in this state rankings update for the 2023 class.

The LSU commit had a stellar spring for the Tors, both on the mound and at the plate.  Brown hit out of the leadoff spot for Sulphur and finished the year hitting at a .477 clip with 2 HR, 28 RBI, and 40 R.  On the mound, Brown was dominate as well, finishing the spring with a 8-3 record and a 1.73 ERA with 131 strikeouts across 73 innings pitched.  He led Sulphur to a semifinal appearance, was named the District 3-5A MVP, and was also named to our PBR Louisiana All-State Team.

Brown carried over the success that he had in the spring to the summer season as well.  At the Area Code Games, Brown filled up the zone in two relief innings and was able to command his entire arsenal.  Operating out of a 3/4 slot, he sat 88-92 mph with his FB (2400 RPM) and his go-to secondary offering was a much improved tight slurve at 80-82 mph.  He also mixed in a low-80's CH as well.

Finally, Brown ended his summer by dominating at the Team USA trials, where he threw 8 innings and gave up 4 hits, 0 earned runs, while tallying 12 strikeouts and only 2 walks, which earned himself a spot on the final roster for Team USA.  His stock has certainly shot up over the summer, as Brown is now a legitimate draft prospect that area scouts will be watching a lot over the coming months, as we head towards next summer's MLB draft.
