LF Wyatt Langford - No. 4

Wyatt Langford might have been No. 1 on this list if he played center field. After getting just four at-bats during his freshman year as the Gators’ reserve catcher, Langford made the move to left field last year and led the team in nearly every major offensive category as an everyday player.

With Jud Fabian in the Baltimore Orioles organization, Langford could try to take over that spot to boost his stock. He was better than expected in left, but playing center field at a pro level requires a bit more range and instinct. As long as the bat stays effective, Langford should be the most exciting player on the team this year.

4. Wyatt Langford, OF, Florida

After collecting just four at-bats as a freshman, Langford led the SEC with a school-record 26 homers last spring while batting .355/.447/.719. He's similar to Crews and some scouts prefer Langford because he has a better right-handed swing as well as more speed and athleticism, though he has spent most of his college career in left field.

Outfielder Wyatt Langford

Langford is draft-eligible for the first time in 2023 and is coming off one of the greatest seasons in the history of the Orange & Blue. The Trenton, Fla. native tied Florida's single-season home run record and paced the Southeastern Conference with 26 long balls en route to First Team All-America status. As one of two Gators to start all 66 games last year, Langford slashed .355/.447/.867 while adding three triples, nine doubles, 73 runs, 63 RBI and seven steals to his resume.

Wyatt Langford was a relatively unknown player entering his sophomore season at Florida after having just four at-bats in his freshman year in 2021.

The lack of experience didn’t hinder Langford last season, however. Langford moved into the starting lineup and blossomed into one of the top players in college baseball.

Langford showed an impressive skillset at the plate, hitting .356 in 66 games at Florida last season. He continued his high level of play with USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team during the summer.

5. Wyatt Langford

Outfield, Florida

Langford has been an offensive force for the Gators providing plenty of punch and impact at the plate in Gainesville. This is a premium power bat with easy plus raw power to all fields. He's also a fringe-average runner, but the legs play up thanks to strong instincts and burst on the basepaths. He's destined for left field where his speed and lack of a strong throwing arm will play best. Still, this bat will be drafted for the juice. It's one of the more impactful bats available in 2023.

4. Minnesota Twins

Wyatt Langford, Outfield, Florida

Minnesota has 1-in-142 odds to land the No. 4 overall pick, so this would be an absolutely massive coup for the Twins. Again, if we were making this pick, Dollander would be the guy, but Minnesota’s affinity for college sluggers is simply too hard to ignore. Brooks Lee in 2022 was a bit of a variation, but still a bat-first guy with power and a high floor. Langford has the chance to play an average centerfield or a solid average corner with plus power and the upside of a guy who hits 25-30 homers if he can up his contact rates a bit in 2023.

17. Giants: Wyatt Langford, OF, Florida

The corner outfielder certainly looks like he has the bat to profile at his position. He’s coming off a huge year for the Gators, hitting .356/.447/.719 with 26 homers, and Langford then went 7-for-21 for Team USA. The right-handed hitter has plenty of power but doesn’t sell out for it (14.5 percent K rate in 2022).

Mack -

Right now, the consensus in my mock drafts have Langford as the last top 10 pick.

It will be very hard for him to duplicate his ++ 2021 stat line this season.

I'm also very curious if they move him to center.
