Mack - Thoughts On My Prospect Posts

Afternoon.

I need to spend a few minutes of your time and discuss why I post information on draft prospects on a Mets site.

A few people without names have been sarcastically leaving comments on some of my posts. That's fine. But I do want to cover a few points here:

1. The primary reason I post information on high school and college prospects is FOR THE PROSPECTS, not my staff or you readers. You are important, but what trumps that is these compilations of scouting reports, mock drafts, and newspaper articles create a database both for the players but also other draft pundits that like to review things like this.

2. A larger percentage of the players in the top 50 for both 2023 and 2024 follow me on Twitter and await my updates that there is new information in their database.

3. Families of prospects follow me too and I have developed long range relationships with some of them. Case in point would be top 2022 prospect SS Zach Neto. His mother and I correspond weekly on Twitter.

4. Mack's Mets is the only site I have, so they go here.

5. I do these because they make me happy.

I always find it interesting that the only people that come off as brat children are the anonymous ones, who don't have the courage or manners to identify themselves.

Even more stupid is the site allows you to make up a handle as your name. Why not at least pick one out of the air like, oh, I don't know, Gus, and identify as that?

Frankly, I wish they would go away or these kind of comments will stop. Probably this post will cause for an increase of them. I don't really care. I love doing this as I live with incurable blood cancer. I have more important things to care about.

Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Mack

  3. I am not nearly as in tune with the prospect pool as you are, Mack......so, your articles give me greater insight to who is available and who the Mets might select in future drafts.

Screw the anonymous idiots that are trolling you in the comments. The fact that they are not using their name (or any name), tells you all you need to know.

    Oh and Merry Christmas!

  4. Mack's Mets is my go-to Met's site. personally, I prefer reading about the Mets major league players and their prospects, but if you enjoy it, and if the high school and college players and their families enjoy it, knock yourself out; I hope to keep reading you and your site for many years to come.

Merry Christmas and many more years of good health and happiness to you and yours. oh, and ignore the anonymous yahoos.

    regards,
    Jon

  5. Anonymous posts to bust chops are not appreciated. Mack has put thousands of hours into this site and I, for one am glad he does. Those posts are what first drew me to the site. Now THERE’S something you can razz him for.

  9. Hey Mack! I got taken aback by your choice of name, but, ok. A few years back there was discussion about not allowing anonymous postings. Sure, they can make up any name, but… whatever happened to that thinking?

I, personally, don’t get into the prospect thing until it’s close to the draft. Too much going on in my life and I was away for a couple of weeks so I don’t know what he been going on here. In fact, I’m at Newark Airport now waiting to fly to Houston.

It’s an interesting reason for putting it up and it sure starts friendships and relationships, but if that’s your motivation, go ahead. I still kind of read the Mets stuff mostly by Reese and Tom but I may click on a prospect once a month. I would say that you even ask readers to tie their Google account to their comments. Everyone has an opinion and I have mine on anonymous comments- no matter who it is they can pick a tagname - and it is your site. Though I haven’t checked in for a while, it does bother me to read the trolls without a life being assholes whenever I see them.

  10. Gus

The choice of the name was just a joke.

  11. The site here is a fine mosaic, I might wish to add. What other site has writers from all over the globe writing about the Mets, and even potential pre-Mets?

Merry Christmas from Bill - same back at you and you can stuff the stocking here with your always excellent comments. Gus adds gusto. Bill is a Metsiac. Gary is my favorite Gary after Gentry. Paul is always articulate - and usually more positive than me.

I squeeze in what I can with my available time, and we writers all hope you enjoy the mosaic.

And remember it all started....with Mack....in an underground Mets bunker in an undisclosed location.

The location of that bunker has now been exposed by MSNBC.

  13. You have presidential privilege, so they cannot take your top secret Mets articles - right?

  14. Loved the Mack's Mets site long before I became a contributor. While I'm not particularly interested in prospects I say screw the anonymous critics.
