So, Matt Harvey retires. Time, as the above photo shows, moves on.
Some FB fans suggest he should sign a minor league deal with the Mets.
My guess? He knows he is in his 30s and is burnt toast.
He earned $32 million between bonuses and salary, so coulda been more, but that’s a ton of cabbage. He exits with dignity.
Dylan Bundy may soon follow. His AAA comeback is simply horrendous. 17 innings, 12 HRs, 31 hits, 12.71 ERA. Maybe Pete Alonso has found a new HR contest pitcher. Is there honestly any hope that a 12 HRs allowed in 17 innings in AAA guy can pitch in the majors again? Not much dignity there.
AAA 11’s:
Syracuse won 10-9 in 11 last night. Walked 11 times, gave up 11 walks. Guess those automated ball/strike cameras were malfunctioning.
MARK & RONNY:
This Mets team needs help. These two are the near-term helpers, putting in their time in the Syracuse penitentiary, anxiously awaiting their pardons and release onto the streets of northern Queens:
MARK 28 games, .340/.426./.689, 27 Ks.
RONNY: 30 games, .353/.391/.622, 24 Ks.
Remember, as you hunt for possible flaws:
1) They’ve done this thru a lot of cold weather.
2) Mark in 2021 and 2022 had very cold starts (not this year, obviously) and then was quite hot the rest of the way both seasons. So I am expecting him to stay hot.
3) Ronny has been up roughly 900 times since the beginning of 2022, and it is paying off hugely.
4) Both had solid spring trainings.
5) The Mets team needs help (I already said that).
6) How are they fielding? Better, thanks for asking.
LASTLY…
As a test, I posted the idea of the Mets possibly seeking league approval to get out of the same division as the Braves. Wouldn’t be easy, clearly, probably many obstacles to that. Mockers without brains swarmed. The mockers are apparently happy with the Braves winning 20 division titles in the past 32 seasons while the Mets win 2. Had 400 miles closer Pittsburgh been in the Mets division since 1990, rather than the Braves, perhaps over 32 seasons the Mets woul have won another dozen division titles and a few World Series. You know, trivial outcomes no one cares about.
I mean, do you care that the Mets haven’t won a World Series in 36 seasons, and been to 2 World Series. I sure don’t. I love failure, don’t you?
Any normal business would at least look for strategic business strategies to improve outcomes.
But when the ranks of your fans are regularly attending Mockers Anonymous meetings, you need not worry when your business fails to meet its goals repeatedly. Your mocking, low IQ customers are simply too stupid to care.
My prediction: Vientos promoted by May 15. Mauricio promoted by June 15.
ReplyDeleteI could always block the anonymous gang if you'd like
ReplyDeleteThe problem with our offLindor, and Alonsoense, as I noted yesterday, is that our #s 1,5,6,7 and 8 hitters are posting average or better #s, and our #9 is our future all-star catcher. But our #s 2,3 and 4, otherwise known as Marte, Lindor, and Alonso, are all at .238 and well below. And sinking.
ReplyDeleteSo if we bring up Vientos and/or Mauricio, where would they play and whom would they replace?
The much-maligned Vogie is hitting .270, which is 3rd-highest of all current Mets who have been here since OD.
ReplyDeleteAnd his OBP is .403, trailing only Nimmo (by ONE point). And yet it seems like he's on many fans' getridda list. Why?
People don’t like fatballplayers, Bill. They would have wanted to get rid of the Bambino.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous here largely fineMack. Facebook idiots were born with 2 extra genes….a stupid gene and a mockery gene.
If they worked for me, I’d fire them.
Funny, Mets fans loved Rusty. And Bart!
DeleteBill, Lindor and Pete just need to put on Vogie fat and they’ll hit fine.
ReplyDeleteIf that would do it, I'd be happy to supply them with pizzas! 😅
ReplyDeleteBill, the Mets and their minors teams went 0-6 yesterday, totaling 18 hits over the 6 games.Conley highlight?cConvertedcpitcher Harris Brodey threw a scoreless 9th and fanned 3.
