BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Mets, are proud to announce that infielder Luke Ritter has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week for June 5-11.
In six games at Reading this week, Ritter hit .375 with five home runs, 12 RBIs, and a 1.125 OPS. His week was capped off by hitting three home runs on Sunday night in the series finale.
During the Ponies' 12-game road trip through Altoona and Reading, Ritter hit .340 with nine home runs and 17 RBIs, carrying a 1.394 OPS. He had six multi-hit games, five multi-RBI games, and three multi-homer games during the road trip.
In 43 games this season with Binghamton, the 26-year-old infielder has a slash line of .240/.389/.568 with a .957 OPS, hitting 14 home runs (third in the Eastern League) with 29 RBIs.
Ritter was selected by the Mets in the seventh round of the 2019 draft out of Wichita State. He is the third Rumble Ponies player to earn an Eastern League honor this season. RHP Mike Vasil was named the Eastern League Player of the Month for May and IF Jose Peroza was named Eastern League Player of the Week for May 8-14.
