(Note: some DSL signees over the past few years are now in the FCL (Complex League).

4 of those 5 are now playing in the Complex League, and Rosa is in the DSL.
How are the 5 doing?
Well, OK, you asked….
- Combined, they are just 23 for 150 (.153) through Thursday.
I know, be patient.
HITTING WELL, BUT NOT LISTED:
Christopher Suero, catcher: 8 for 21 (.383), HR in FCL!
Branny de Oleo, SS: .444/.512/.667, 3 HRs in DSL!
2021
Highest bonus: OF Yohairo Cuevas ($500,000): a Bronx native who moved to the Dominican Republic not too long before signing, he struggled in his pro debut in the Dominican Summer League, but the 6-foot-3 with a loose left-handed stroke.
- This year he is hitting .313/.477/.563 in 11 FCL games!
HITTING WELL, FROM 2021 SIGNINGS:

Jostyn Almonte, OF: .375/.512/.531 in DSL! Signed for $80,000.
Just slapped all this together; some imperfect info to provide you, the reader, with some perspective on them and evidence (or lack thereof) on Mets’ player selection effectiveness.
BY THE WAY:
Great Thursday evening for our top 4 minors teams and some of our top minors pitchers on those teams.
Watch for Mack’s 11 o’clock article for details.
Happy Friday!
Thanks for the props
ReplyDeletePOD today is the 5 homers last night in the Syracuse rout of the Durham Bears.
Helium Alert:
OF DJ Stewaet - leads team with 15 HR
Mark Vientos would lead the team, if not for his summer vacation in Queens. Mark did pop one last night. He will pop a ton more. That whole team will hit like mad. What a AAA line up. The Big Mets Machine - in Syracuse.
ReplyDeleteIt sure makes alot of sense to keep Vientos and Ronnie Mo in the minors given our stellar record and play at the big league level. Why is it colossal fails are synonymous with us and of course what are they going to do about it? Question guys: what would be the haul for a Alonso trade?

DeleteIt's all about showcasing expiring contracts before the trading begins
Tom,
ReplyDeleteI had high hopes for our top DSL prospects, but so far not so good.Patience is certainly the key here. There are always a few who were not as highly rated that can surprise you in their progress. We can hope that is the case this year.
It has been suggested that we focus on a few top prospects each year and spend our money on those players. Might be our best bet for future signings.

DeleteThe Mets should take the approach like the Padres
2 players a.year
4-5mil bonus each
Rest a box o balls
D J, the Mets did get Rosario, Gimenez, and Alvarez, but unless the rules change, spend huge on the best guy instead. Most international signings of the Mets ultimately amount to nothing. Spend huge, roll the dice. Elbow the Yanks and Dodgers aside.
ReplyDeleteI do not ever recall the Mets going all in on a top 3 international guy. Do you?
The Mets NEVER have, regardless of who ran or owned them
DeleteMack, as per your post, we agree 100%. Get me the best.
ReplyDeleteOn another Mets website, there's a rumor, supposedly thru major league sources that the Mets are talking trade with Angels for the big O. If that's being talked about, the trade would start with Vientos and Mauricio, and probably Parada. I don't want them to empty the minors for Ohtani. No guarantee they can sign him after this year and one guy is not gonna bring a championship
ReplyDeleteFunny how I posted this article just yesterday, and guess who suddenly got hot yesterday and today? Simon Juan, Willie Fañas andJesus Baez. Anyone else I can kick start?
