Mack - The Daily Mets Minor League Update - July 8TH

Morning.

Dave (Mets) Outsider (@MetsOutsider)

Mets are 5-0 since we arrived in South Dakota on Saturday for vacation.

We have the airbnb until July 15.

But I’m prepared to stay as long as necessary.

(Mack - you may need to go to the store and get some new underwear, Dave)

Greg Harvey (@BetweenTheNums)

Players in MLB history to record the following in a single game:

- 2+ 3B

- 1+ HR

- 5-for-5 or Better

- 3+ Runs

Francisco Lindor - Tonight

Willie Mays - 5/13/1958

That’s it.

Trevor May (@IamTrevorMay)

After seeing the work that Francisco Alvarez puts in first hand, not even remotely surprising that he’s THAT guy right now. Yeesh.

John Harper (@NYNJHarper)

Early blowout made Cookie Carrasco's life easy on this night, but it's still rather astonishing to see him go eight scoreless innings against the D-Backs. If he's figured something out, Mets' rotation suddenly looking good enough for this team to make a run, thin bullpen and all.

Mike Mayer (@mikemayer22)

Francisco Lindor's ranks among MLB shortstops this season:

1st - 18 HR

1st - 54 Runs

1st - 57 RBI

T/2nd - 3.0 fWAR

5th - 117 wRC+

T/6th - 11 SB

CLICK ON - Keith Law's final mock

1,32 - New York Mets – Joe Whitman, LHP, Kent State

Very much a function of who gets to this pick, as I’ve heard them on all categories of players, from Nimmala (who I can’t imagine gets this far) to Floyd (probably stops at Houston) to George Lombard Jr. (could go anywhere from about No. 22 on down) to Ralphy Velazquez.

Transactions:

RHP Landon Marceaux – transferred to FCL

RHP Dylan Hall - Placed on the Development List

Player Of The Day -

POD this day goes to someone that is quietly turning around a sub-par start this season

Cyclones SS Junior Tillen went 2-4, R, 3RD HR, 3-RBI last night, raisiong his BA/OPS to .273/.804

Maybe the Mets have another budding shortstop prospect here.

  1. Jostyn Almonte….promote him to FCL ASAP.

ANKENEY and HARDY. Dynamic pitching duo in the minors.

Junior Tilien is on fire, even if Junior Santos is not

The Baez/Fanas/Juan trio showing real signs of offensive life lately.

Mack, does Ernest have a prognosis on Rudick. Binghamton is scoring a lot less without him. Getting on base all the time.

There’s almost always something going on in the minors that catches one’s attention. But the two Francisco boys yesterday combine for seven hits and Alvarez is truly starting to look like a budding superstar. We need budding superstars.

  2. Catcher Daiverson Gutierrez, signed a bonus for Francisco Alvarez type money, but is 10 for 82 so far IN THE DSL! Well, we do have Parada.

  3. Is Mauricio hurt?

  4. Apesquat, he did miss the last few games, but still "active", so perhaps he needs a bit of a break. I do like that in 16 July at bats, he has fanned just once.

Mack, I saw about two weks ago, that Coleman Crow had started to throw some bullpens. I hope he is not in need of Tommy John. He hasn't pitched due to his elbow since late April.

  5. Arnoldo Montano (whom I never heard of) is a 17 year old DSL Catcher who is 9 for 24, with a HR and 4 ribbies, while bonus baby Daiverson G is just 10 for 82.
