OPEN THREAD - BUY OR SELL?

Baseball Decision Time Is Upon Us

After a dissatisfying split with the Yankees, and a dissatisfying 33-47 stretch of 80 games, do the Mets buy?

If so, what?

Sell?

If, so, what?

And get what in return?

Have at it.

  1. boy, a disappointing zero comments after 3+ hours. a definite sign of a discouraged fan base. me, I'd keep all the pitching. they don't have much, and little in the high minors ready for the majors, and little demand for the 'twin aces;' and, if you trade them, who's going to start next year? Dave Robertson and Brooks Raley, who has one more year of control left, could generate a return, but I think the team would be better served offering Robertson and extension (doesn't sound like he wants to leave), and, along with Edwin Diaz plus another signing or two, you might have a good bullpen for 2024. as to non-pitchers, trade any expiring contracts, give Vientos at bats, and bring up Mauricio and give him at bats, let them develop and see what you've got.

  2. Jon, you definitely need a killer pen. Robertson would help in that regard in 2024.

Get Mark and Mo out there, although Ronny has slumped the past two months

  3. Keep the starters, sell the relievers, ask Carrasco if he wants to give closing a shot. Sell all the free agent bats and listen on Alonso.

  4. Well, Robertson was dealt to the Marlins for their #18 and #19 prospects. THAT is a white flag of surrender. Since that weakens the Mets for the rest of 2023, one can assume the sell-off is underway in earnest.
