With Monsieur Marte out, there are 4 core veteran bats.
(Alvarez ain’t a vet, yet).
The 4 core have hit more, as the Mets have won 6 of 7.
In their last 7 games, Alonso, Lindor, McNeil, and Nimmo are 40 for 115 (.348) with 7 HRs and 24 RBIs.
Those 4 dudes hit that well? Then the Mets win.
Of course, DJ Stewart going 6 for his last 13, with 4 HRs and 7 RBIs, has been jet propellant lately. His .556 slug % is the team’s highest.
And Rafael Ortega (who?) is 8 for his last 23 over the past 7 games he’s played, while fanning just twice, in his best Jeff McNeil imitation.
Mets bizarrely are now just 6 games out of a Wild Card, after trading their hottest bat and 3 elite pitchers. 38 games to go.
This game is a conundrum, for sure.
When you wanna win, you lose.
When you send half the team packing and want to lose (even if you won’t admit it) to attempt to secure a superior draft pick, you win.
Dang, baseball is weird.
Mets still only one game away from the 1.6 pick
ReplyDeleteThe game of .500 teams
At this stage, I'd rather get a lottery pick than be a wildcard.
ReplyDeleteAgree
DeleteMets still need another good draft after this meh one
Having the core 4 play to the level we know they can play and seeing Quintana & Senga look like #1 and #2 level starters looks good for next year. What is the real version of Luchessi? The one against the Cards and Giants or the one in between? I heard he was hurt and it was affecting his performance.
ReplyDeleteAs quickly as we get to 6 games out we have Carassco starting today then 3 games against the Braves which does not portend well but I hope even if we lose games we keep seeing some crisp baseball especially from the guys that will be here for 24.
Lucchese sent to AAA after the game
DeleteI think Joey is viable as a 2024 SP5.
ReplyDeleteLet’s hope we start losing again. We have no hopes if we miraculously get to the playoffs, but a high pick builds the future.
The 2024 rotation is going to need all the help they can get
DeleteWhere is Sproat??
ReplyDeleteMr Mack, I’m thinking the Yanks will beat out the !ets for that lottery ticket. What do you think.
ReplyDeleteAlbert
DeleteI don't think either will
Kind of premature to call this a "meh " draft.
ReplyDeleteJust my opinion

Nothing at my age is premature
LHP Tyler Thomas to AAA
ReplyDeleteRHP Christian Scott to 7 day IL
Vogue might be back, Do you think he might be the lefty answer at DH? Lately he’s done it.
ReplyDeletePromote Lucchesi and sent Carrasco to pen. Carrasco BAA is a ridiculous .301. Joey much better at this stage.
ReplyDeleteLuke Ritter has 26 HRs in 361 at bats. Just mentioning it.
ReplyDeleteMcIlwain has a .444 OBP in his first 15 AAA games. Just mentioning it.
ReplyDeleteVasil strong the last 3 starts. Just mentioning it.
ReplyDeleteIf Vogelbach is back, probably comes with another year of Buck. I'm getting too old for this nonsense.
