“Hey, there’s Mike and Dom…How Did They Do Last Night?”
Mike Vasil wasn’t good last night - 5 innings, 5 runs and is now 3-4, 5.71 in 14 Syracuse starts.
So…don’t pencil him into the 2024 rotation just yet.
Dom Hamel, on the other hand, was brilliant for 3 in AA last night before the rains came. No hits, 5 Ks.
So, last night plus his prior outing, 9 shutout, 3 hit innings, 14 Ks. Sweet.
Two thumbs way up, for the guy with 147 Ks in 116 innings, and 18-9, 3.63, 299 Ks in 238 IP as a pro.
This year, 4.11, but that is largely because he had a handful of brutal outings where he allowed 23 earned runs in 15 innings. The other 101 AA innings, just 30 earned runs, which is very solid. Growth expects some level of aberration.
Binghamton hitting-wise was 10 for 17 last night prior to the rains. That collection of dudes can rake. Bodes well for the future.
I still wouldn't rush Hamel
ReplyDeleteStart.him off in Syracuse
Curious about today's St. Lucie debut of Calvin Ziegler
Ziegler? Wow, almost forgot about him. Another Tidwell in the making?
ReplyDeleteI totally missed on this guy coming out of school. Limited press.
DeleteReport is he is already his hitting 95
How about Schwartz? Anther two hit game. He’ll be a top twenty guy next year.
ReplyDeleteWhy did he miss a year? Tommy John? Don’t recall.
ReplyDeleteJust remembered, elbow chips clear out, then torn quad.
ReplyDeleteRyley Gilliam out since July 2021. Wonder if we’ll ever see him again.
Allan 8 months since surgery. Maybe Ernest has some news on Gilliam and Allan.
