Mets Draft - Pick 19 - RHP - Frank Ellisant - Nova Southeastern

Started 14 games for the Sharks, throwing 67.1 innings, striking out 60 and held a 4.68 ERA with a 0-4 record... threw two quality starts on the season, first against Palm Beach Atlantic on March 4th, tossing six innings of shutout baseball, striking out a season-high nine and again on May 6th against Eckerd, striking out seven.

Pick No. 563 (Rd. 19) – Frank Elissalt, RHP – Nova Southesastern University 

With the 563rd pick, the Mets selected Frank Elissalt out of Nova Southeastern University. Elissalt stands at 6’2”, 210lbs. 

Elissalt spent his sophomore year with Florida Southwestern State College in Fort Myers, FL. before transferring to Nova Southeastern for his junior and senior years.

 In 2022, while pitching for Florida Southwestern State, Elissalt was 4-3 with a 3.92 ERA over 59 2/3 innings. He struck out 61 over the course of those 15 games he appeared in, 13 of which were starting appearances. 

As a junior in 2023, he played in 14 games for Nova Southeastern, going 0-4 with a 4.69 ERA and striking out 60 over the course of 67 1/3 innings pitched. He had two quality starts on the season, one against Palm Beach Atlantic and one against Eckerd College. Moving into 2024, Elissalt was 3-8 with a 3.71 ERA over the course of 19 games pitched (3 started). He struck out 62 over the course of 50 innings pitched. 

With 46 total appearances and 194.2 total innings pitched in his collegiate career, it will be interesting to see how the Mets look to develop Elissalt.

2019 PG FLORIDA TOP PROSPECT GAMES AT MIAMI  

Frank Elissalt is a 2020 RHP/3B with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Southwest Miami. A primary right-handed pitcher with a physical frame but is proportioned, and looks the part on the mound. Using a short rocker step, overhead pump that keeps him connected. Very good direction with a methodical tempo and repeats it well. 

Shows a compact arm stroke that is clean and releases from a high 3/4 slot. The entire operation great, it is low effort, very tight and has a ton of long term projection. Pitching at 87-90, peaked at 91 with some life, located at the knees well, mostly away from hitters. Slider has horizontal shape and flashed well as the outing went along, using extension well it should be a solid future offering. 

Kept hand speed on the change up with late fade, good shape and tunnel, projects as the command is consistent after reps. Using a forth offering in a curveball, it is a change of pace pitch that varies speeds from the rest of the repertoire. 11/5 shape with big loose spin. The sum of the parts is very good, the delivery in-particular shows nice upside.

Ellisalt threw 51 innings across 22 appearances (three starts) this season. He finished 3-4 with a 3.71 ERA and didn't allow a run in his final four appearances.

Frank Elissalt, a senior right-handed pitcher for the Nova Southeastern Sharks Baseball program, was drafted by the New York Mets in the 19th round of the 2024 Major League Baseball draft.  

During the 2024 season, Elissalt led the Sharks pitching staff with 19 appearances, throwing 51 innings, and recording 62 strikeouts. Elissalt carried a 3.71 earned run average (ERA), along with a 1.27 walks/hits per inning pitched (WHIP). Elissalt pitched two seasons for NSU, totaling 32 appearances, 113.1 innings pitched, 119 strikeouts and held a 4.05 ERA.
